Located in the Heart of the French Quarter, the Bourbon Orleans features classic Southern Charm with styling reminiscent of the French Opulence of the early 1800's. With its central location - directly behind the famed St. Louis Cathedral, the hotel offers direct access to the upscale shopping on Royal Street, the fortune tellers and street performers of Jackson Square, cafe au lait and beignets at Cafe du Monde, and of course the decadence of Bourbon Street. As a Historic Hotel, each unique guestroom has its own charm and grace. However, all of the rooms feature modern amenities including in room safes and complementary local calls. The hottest addition to the dynamic nightlife of the French Quarter, Napoleon's Itch is quickly becoming the ultimate "after hours" lounge to see and be seen. The bar, across from the famed Oz nightclub, offers the swank feel of a New York club. Napoleon's Itch operates from 5:00 pm - 4:00 am Wednesday through Sunday. There is a security fee of $10.00 per person per day from 1/25-2/5/08 for Mardi Gras dates this will be charged to guest room and paid by guest on checkout. The Hotel charges for Special event, compulsory gala dinner, additional transfer costs, etc.
There are smoking areas by the pool and on Bourbon Street for people to smoke.

This was our second trip to New Orleans and the first time we stayed in the French Quarter. If your intentions are to spend ... most of your time in and around this area then the Bourbon Orleans should be adequate. We spent very little time at the hotel other than to sleep and so it fit our needs. Their restaurant was not open very often and we ate breakfast there only once in the seven days at the hotel. The hotel is located off Bourbon St. which at night is party central for the French Quarter. So if you are older like we are bring earplugs. We were on the sixth floor and could only hear the thumping base from the music off the street. It really wasn't that bad. If you like to party then the location of this hotel should fit the bill. The staff were both friendly and helpful. The only complaint we had was the dirty looking carpets. They really need a good scrubbing or need to be replaced completely. The hotel has a nice large outdoor pool in their central courtyard. If you have children they will really enjoy it.

Dining tip

Avoid purchasing any dining or nightlife coupons from [...]. The coupons were redeemable at only a limited number of restaurants. The restaurants offered weren't particularly good. The menu at one restaurant was a more limited form of their regular menu (Bubba Gump Shrimp) and we had to wait almost a half hour until our server could locate a copy of the special [...] menu. One pizza restaurant refused to honor their coupons explaining they had requested to be removed from [...]'s dining list as they had difficulty being paid by [...]. Every time we presented our prepaid coupons, we were greeted by long faces. There was only one place to get breakfast on the list and the server said "All you can get with a [...] Coupon is a cup of coffee and a muffin, thoses coupons are only worth $5.00". Altogether, their dining coupons for a day were worth $35.00. I think any one would be able to find better dining experiances at a better price without trusting [...]. Spectacular location directly behind St Louis Cathedral. Hotel also has a corner on Boubon St. Lovely wind bar with outdoor ... seating directly across the street. Huge rooms, good beds, marble bath and very kind and helpful staff. Valet parking is great. I've stayed at many hotels in the quarter. Best location and amenities yet.

We had a great time. I booked this hotel last minute on our way into New Orleans and couldn't be happier that I did. I got an ... amazing rate, and everything was perfect. The location couldn't be better, right in the cernter of the French Quarter, right on Bourbon Street. We were only there for one night, a Tuesday, and still had a blast. I would highly reccomend this hotel.

The Bourbon Orleans met all our expectations. Great location, very nice room with balcony overlooking St. Ann street, pool ... was great. We were given an upgraded room since they were not able to have our room ready for our requested early check in. Staff was good to work with, room was clean and provided everything we needed for a quick weekend getaway. We would definitely return to the Bourbon Orleans on our next trip to NOLA.

Great Hotel in a Great Location

Loka Jul 19, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

Overall, this was a great hotel for vacation with my teen daughter. The location couldn't be better, right in the heart of ... the French Quarter. Although the room was very small, it was fine for our purposes. The booking said that it was a queen room but it was only a double bed, which I expected based on experiences of other reviewers. A queen bed would not have fit in this room. The room was clean, quiet and nicely decorated, and the bed was really comfortable, something I don't say often about hotels. The bathroom was small as well, but the shower had good water pressure and plenty of hot water. The staff was friendly and helpful, bringing extra pillows within 5 minutes of my request and researching local restaurants to find one that served vegetarian food. Finally, we loved the outdoor pool (located in a central courtyard surrounded by the hotel), which is quite large and deep by hotal standards - goes to 8' deep. If you're interested in the paranormal, the hotel has a cool history and we had a definite "encounter" in the Ballroom (complete with pictures). There are a few drawbacks. The hotel has a horrible layout that's too complicated to explain here, but the bottom line is that if you book a cheap room you're placed in the last row of rooms, resulting in a ridiculously long walk to and from your room. It doesn't seem like a big deal but when you spend the day on your feet sightseeing, its a huge issue. These rooms also have a nasty view of a small service gangway behind the building. The other main negative is the restaurant, which is only open for a mediocre, overpriced breakfast. This was the one place where the service was poor as well. But the few negatives were easy to overlook. We will definitely stay here again the next time we visit New Orleans!

The room was very small, and the bathroom had black stains all over the ceiling. The carpet in the hotel needs to be ... replaced. Absolutely best location!

First Time in New Orleans Jul 7, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

The hotel was truly situated at the best location. One block from Bourbon Street on Orleans Ave., a nice side street, one ... block from Jackson Square and two blocks from the Cafe Du Monde and those fabulous beignets and cafe au lait. We were on the top floor in a dormered room overlooking Bourbon Street. It was a bit noisy at night but not unbearable. The room was charming and nicely appointed although the carpet was badly stained and the wall paper was coming off the wall in the bathroom in one spot. The room wasn't perfect but the lobby was grand and pool area small but beautiful. I would definitely stay here again given its location and elegant feel. I would request a room off Bourbon Street and on a lower floor.

Quick tip

Excellent amenities

Barbara Jul 2, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

The hotel was perfect except for the noise. Our rooms looked out on the pool and a large wedding party that was there for ... several days was quite noisy. Also, our rooms were across the hall from a door leading to the bar. On Friday and Saturday nights, the noise from the music in the bar was VERY loud in our rooms.

Dining tip, Short Walk

The little restaurant across the street from the hotel, on Orleans, was delightful. It was very old world and they had excellent food and service.

We ended up not using about half the coupons because it was such an unpleasant experiance trying to redeem them. Live and learn...

Nightlife tip, Long Walk

There are many clubs at hotels with Jazz groups playing in the evenings.

Money savers tip

I purchased a 3 day Power Pass (offered through Orbitz) and saved a ton of cash on the stuff we did like tours, museums, plantations and a steam boat ride.

--Loka, Chicago Suburbs Jul 19, 2009

Nightlife tip, Short Walk

The hotel is on the corner of Bourbon Street!

We loved the Acme Oyster House and Broussards which were both short walks from the hotel.

Dining tip, Short Walk

Emeril Lagasse's NOLA restaurant is a short walk from the hotel and is a great casual gourmet creole spot with a reasonable price point. Emeril's Delmonico is a short cab ride or a long walk, and is a formal dining experience, but still reasonably priced.

Dining tip, Short Walk

You MUST eat at BAYONA! Only a few blocks to the north on Dauphine. EXTRAORDINARY FOOD. No superlative is sufficient to describe the Palate Party in your mouth. Just Go.

--The Redhead, Fort Worth, Texas Jun 1, 2009

Nightlife tip, Short Walk

Just get a taste of Bourbon street. It is too wild for enjoyment for even an hour. But just within a block either way, the French Quarter was great and the hotel was in a good location for that.

Nightlife tip, Short Walk

You are on Bourbon street and the back view of St. Louis Cathederal is amazing at night with the statue of Jesus' refection on the wall.

Money savers tip, Short Walk

If you plan to stay downtown or in the Quarter for the bulk of your trip you don't need a car. This hotel is located exactly in the middle of all the fun! Go to Rouse's Market over on Royal and St. Peter just a block away for drinks and snacks.

Recreation/Attractions tip, Short Walk

Great location in the heart of the French Quarter right behind St. Louis Cathedral. A short walk to great dining, entertainment and shopping.
