Located in the Heart of the French Quarter, the Bourbon Orleans features classic Southern Charm with styling reminiscent of the French Opulence of the early 1800's. With its central location - directly behind the famed St. Louis Cathedral, the hotel offers direct access to the upscale shopping on Royal Street, the fortune tellers and street performers of Jackson Square, cafe au lait and beignets at Cafe du Monde, and of course the decadence of Bourbon Street. As a Historic Hotel, each unique guestroom has its own charm and grace. However, all of the rooms feature modern amenities including in room safes and complementary local calls. The hottest addition to the dynamic nightlife of the French Quarter, Napoleon's Itch is quickly becoming the ultimate "after hours" lounge to see and be seen. The bar, across from the famed Oz nightclub, offers the swank feel of a New York club. Napoleon's Itch operates from 5:00 pm - 4:00 am Wednesday through Sunday.
There is a security fee of $10.00 per person per day from 1/25-2/5/08 for Mardi Gras dates this will be charged to guest room and paid by guest on checkout.
The Hotel charges for Special event, compulsory gala dinner, additional transfer costs, etc.
There are smoking areas by the pool and on Bourbon Street for people to smoke.

This was always a favorite place to stay for me. I will not be returning. The rooms vary in size from extra large to matchbox ... and you can be certain that you will get a small room if you book through a discount site. The shower did not work and the staff didn't seem to feel that was important enough to get someone in quickly to fix it. The sheets and beds are of poor quality for a hotel in this class. The sheets do not even stay on the beds. You can also expect to wait at least 20 minutes to get your car through valet.

Greeting always great; but underlying problems in resolving problems: room keys did not work had to got to the desk over ... three times to get keys to work; heat was not in the room till Saturday after 7:00 AM when boiler was reset and took hour to get blanket to the room. Everyone was friendly but not too helpful. We went to the Bayou Classic events and had a great time and the room time was minimal. Last year we had much better acomondations. Great diretions to all places and great sugestions for meals.

It's OK
SJ Oct 19, 2009
This was our second trip to New Orleans and the first time we stayed in the French Quarter. If your intentions are to spend ... most of your time in and around this area then the Bourbon Orleans should be adequate. We spent very little time at the hotel other than to sleep and so it fit our needs. Their restaurant was not open very often and we ate breakfast there only once in the seven days at the hotel. The hotel is located off Bourbon St. which at night is party central for the French Quarter. So if you are older like we are bring earplugs. We were on the sixth floor and could only hear the thumping base from the music off the street. It really wasn't that bad. If you like to party then the location of this hotel should fit the bill. The staff were both friendly and helpful. The only complaint we had was the dirty looking carpets. They really need a good scrubbing or need to be replaced completely. The hotel has a nice large outdoor pool in their central courtyard. If you have children they will really enjoy it.

We had a great time. I booked this hotel last minute on our way into New Orleans and couldn't be happier that I did. I got an ... amazing rate, and everything was perfect. The location couldn't be better, right in the cernter of the French Quarter, right on Bourbon Street. We were only there for one night, a Tuesday, and still had a blast. I would highly reccomend this hotel.

The Bourbon Orleans met all our expectations. Great location, very nice room with balcony overlooking St. Ann street, pool ... was great. We were given an upgraded room since they were not able to have our room ready for our requested early check in. Staff was good to work with, room was clean and provided everything we needed for a quick weekend getaway. We would definitely return to the Bourbon Orleans on our next trip to NOLA.

Great Hotel in a Great Location
Loka Jul 19, 2009
Overall, this was a great hotel for vacation with my teen daughter. The location couldn't be better, right in the heart of ... the French Quarter. Although the room was very small, it was fine for our purposes. The booking said that it was a queen room but it was only a double bed, which I expected based on experiences of other reviewers. A queen bed would not have fit in this room. The room was clean, quiet and nicely decorated, and the bed was really comfortable, something I don't say often about hotels. The bathroom was small as well, but the shower had good water pressure and plenty of hot water. The staff was friendly and helpful, bringing extra pillows within 5 minutes of my request and researching local restaurants to find one that served vegetarian food. Finally, we loved the outdoor pool (located in a central courtyard surrounded by the hotel), which is quite large and deep by hotal standards - goes to 8' deep. If you're interested in the paranormal, the hotel has a cool history and we had a definite "encounter" in the Ballroom (complete with pictures). There are a few drawbacks. The hotel has a horrible layout that's too complicated to explain here, but the bottom line is that if you book a cheap room you're placed in the last row of rooms, resulting in a ridiculously long walk to and from your room. It doesn't seem like a big deal but when you spend the day on your feet sightseeing, its a huge issue. These rooms also have a nasty view of a small service gangway behind the building. The other main negative is the restaurant, which is only open for a mediocre, overpriced breakfast. This was the one place where the service was poor as well. But the few negatives were easy to overlook. We will definitely stay here again the next time we visit New Orleans!
