Enjoy the good times at this historic French Quarter hotel

The Bourbon Orleans was one of the city's grandest ballrooms in the 1800s and spent time as a convent and orphanage. Today, this French Quarter hotel offers visitors a glimpse into the past while offering contemporary comforts in 211 rooms (no two are alike). The peach and cream lobby with its Oriental rugs and Chippendale furnishings harkens to a more genteel time. Storied ghostly inhabitants include a confederate soldier, children from the Holy Sisters orphanage and a lone dancer twirling under the ballroom's glittering chandeliers.

Highlights
  • Rich New Orleans history
  • Courtyard pool and patio
  • Ballroom
  • Smoke-free
Rooms

None of the 211 rooms and suites are alike, but all offer ergonomically designed Hermann Miller desk chairs, marble baths, fine fabrics and Queen Anne-style furnishings. Irons and ironing boards, coffee makers and free local calls cover the details of a comfortable stay. Fees apply for high-speed Internet access. Twenty-eight suites provide a variety of options including some on two levels and others with balconies overlooking Bourbon Street. The entire hotel is smoke-free.

Features

The on-site Roux on Orleans offers Creole cuisine for breakfast and dinner and also supplies room service. Watch the street scene and enjoy an adult beverage at the open daily Bourbon Oh, accessible from the lobby. Napoleon's Itch is next door to Bourbon Oh! The swanky, New York style club, is a late-night hangout. Need a break from the fun? Try the courtyard pool. Brides can choose the intimate St. Ann Cottage or the opulent Bourbon Orleans ballroom for their wedding. There is valet parking (fees apply).

great locations

The location of this hotel is great and our room which faced the courtyard was very quiet. The room, though, was very small and faced a wall, although the pool was visible if we craned our necks to the left. The room was nicely decorated and the bathroom was clean and spaceous. Downsides were that there was no fitted bottom sheet--there was only a flat sheet draped over the mattress and there was old, moldy coffee in the coffee maker. The lobby and courtyard were beautiful and the hotel staff was courteous and helpful. We would stay again.

My review of Bourbon Orleans

Rooms are a little small but are clean. Bed is very comfortable. Noise from hallways and abutting rooms is very evident, both during the day and the night. We could hear the man in the next room snoring every night.

Great location in the heart of the French Quarter right behind St. Louis Cathedral. A short walk to great dining, entertainment and shopping.

Great location!

We loved our time there. The location was wonderful. The rooms that are very, very, very far from the elevators, without balconies overlooking the pool and not the streets. That maybe a plus or a minus depending on the individual. The heated pool was a big plus.

Great French Quarter location!

The rooms were nice and the bell and desk staff were responsive. Housekeeping and room service were another story. Had to call repeatedly to get hypoallergenic pillows and had a heck of a time ordering breakfast. House keeping did not wash or otherwise replace our coffee cups and glassware the whole time we were there. All in all a good experience. Ask about the hauntings!

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

If you plan to stay downtown or in the Quarter for the bulk of your trip you don't need a car. This hotel is located exactly in the middle of all the fun! Go to Rouse's Market over on Royal and St. Peter just a block away for drinks and snacks.

You MUST eat at BAYONA! Only a few blocks to the north on Dauphine. EXTRAORDINARY FOOD. No superlative is sufficient to describe the Palate Party in your mouth. Just Go.

Location, location, location

Less than a block from Bourbon St, and in walking distance from French Quarter, Harrah's Casino, and Aquarium. Poolside view. Overall a very nice hotel. I would definitely stay here again.

Orbitz misrepresentation and no satisfac

My Orbitz confirmation was for a junior suite. We were provided a tiny room on the top floor with a tiny window. Front desk clerk that day said Orbitz erred and did not have the ability to give us a junior suite. He would NOT fulfill the written confirmation I had from Orbitz. He was not good to deal with. I even indicated we would pay some additional money for a better room but received a snippy answer. We were given the same room (tiny) but at a lower floor so the windows were full size. For instance only chairs in the room were the desk chair and another straight back chair. Paula Crane

Nightlife tip: Short walk from hotel

Just get a taste of Bourbon street. It is too wild for enjoyment for even an hour. But just within a block either way, the French Quarter was great and the hotel was in a good location for that.
