The Bourbon Orleans Hotel has many stories to tell, sitting on the site of both the grand old Orleans Theater and Ballroom, and a former convent. Restored in the 1960s in the Creole style of the French Quarter, the Bourbon's rooms are all unique. From the gilded hangings of the ballroom and meeting halls to the Provencal furnishings of the Governor's Suite, the grandeur of Old Louisiana is everywhere guests look. A complimentary welcome beverage at the Bourbon O is your initial dose of New Orleans hospitality, while resident Creole restaurant, Roux, serves up jumbo shrimp and fried green tomatoes. The saltwater pool forms a calm oasis in the courtyard, a quiet counterpoint to the Bourbon Street bustle outside the front door.

Neighborhood
Right on Bourbon Street, the Bourbon Orleans boasts quick access to the attractions of the French Quarter, as well as some of the finest music found in the "Birthplace of Jazz". Head down Orleans Street for the pedestrian-only section of Royal Street and its lively outdoor performers, or take a detour down Pirate Alley, which runs along the west side of St. Louis Cathedral and ends at Jackson Square, a U.S. National Historic Landmark. You're also never far from the banks of the Mississippi and its vintage steamboat tours.
Hints and tips
Balcony suites overlook Bourbon Street, St. Ann or Orleans Street, and the grand St. Louis Cathedral, so book here for a unique vantage point.

Those with a taste for the supernatural should keep their eyes peeled for the Bourbon's three 'resident' ghosts, including a confederate soldier patrolling the sixth and third floors and a spectral figure waltzing beneath the ballroom chandeliers.

Great Weekend

Everything was perfect as far as location, price, ease of checkin/out, & staff. This place was recommended by a friend and although most places are going to have positive and negative reviews, we went ahead with it and it was exactly what we were looking for. We stayed in room 420 & had a courtyard view. The only negative thing I can say about this hotel is that on Friday & Saturday nights the music from the bar on the ground floor could still be heard until closing time. Now at the 4th floor it was tolerable but I would hate to think if I were any lower down than that. So if you are a light sleeper bring earplugs or stay up drinking with the masses. The food we ate in the hotel restaurant was very good. In summary I would still stay at this hotel again and recommend it to friends.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

The Grapevine restaurant and bar directly across the street on Orleans was one of the better meals of New Orleans. We had the filets. The service was pleasant, the atmosphere was quaint and was very charming, with a small courtyard in the back. Amelie down Royal street is a great courtyard for lunch. (DO NOT EAT AT THE EMBERS ON BOURBON)

Great Location; needs updating

Went to N.O.for six-year anniversary. Hotel lobby is lovely and pool was nice. They have a BBQ out there during the day. Our room was 459. Cons -- the room was small, the bed taking up most of the room; there was no view; the carpet was kinda grubby, which verged on grocery store feet if you walked around barefoot - ICK!; the bed could have been made a little better (sheets too short); and it was half a mile from the elevator. Pros -- Quiet, didn't even have to use ear plugs to sleep; was relatively clean, except for the floor; bathroom was clean; bed was comfortable; LOCATION! You simply cannot get a more centrally-located hotel at this price. Steps to Bourbon, the cathedral, Cafe du Monde, and the River streetcar. Side note -- we didn't deal with the valets, but I agree with other reviewers who said they were surly. They also couldn't be bothered to open the door for arriving guests, which I found odd.

Entertainment tip: Short walk from hotel

We loved the Steamboat Natchez tour. We did the evening food and cruise. It was nice to get a sunset view of the city along with a decent narration of sights. The food was pretty good, too. And the live jazz band was a hit. Just walk to the Toulouse St. Wharf -- maybe 10 minutes of walking and you're there.

Location, Location, Location

A very pleasant staff, from the moment we arrived. The location doesn't get any better than this, especially for the price! This was our 5th trip to New Orleans and the best room deal by far. I smelled a slight musty odor in the hallway, but my friends did not.

Great French Quarter location!

The rooms were nice and the bell and desk staff were responsive. Housekeeping and room service were another story. Had to call repeatedly to get hypoallergenic pillows and had a heck of a time ordering breakfast. House keeping did not wash or otherwise replace our coffee cups and glassware the whole time we were there. All in all a good experience. Ask about the hauntings!

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

If you plan to stay downtown or in the Quarter for the bulk of your trip you don't need a car. This hotel is located exactly in the middle of all the fun! Go to Rouse's Market over on Royal and St. Peter just a block away for drinks and snacks.

Great stay

All of the hotel staff were very nice. Front desk was very helpful and accommodating our special needs. Room was very nice although it was small, which is normal for New Orleans. Room was very quiet despite being sold out.

Fun Bourbon Street Weekend!

This was a great place to stay! The staff was super friendly, especially Caleb, yes we remembered your name!! Thanks for the great experience. We will definitely stay here again. It's just one block from all the fun at Royal & Bourbon Streets and close to the park! Valet parking was the key...even though it was $34 a day. Well worth it to not have to worry about finding a spot!!
