The Bourbon Orleans Hotel has many stories to tell, sitting on the site of both the grand old Orleans Theater and Ballroom, and a former convent. Restored in the 1960s in the Creole style of the French Quarter, the Bourbon's rooms are all unique. From the gilded hangings of the ballroom and meeting halls to the Provencal furnishings of the Governor's Suite, the grandeur of Old Louisiana is everywhere guests look. A complimentary welcome beverage at the Bourbon O is your initial dose of New Orleans hospitality, while resident Creole restaurant, Roux, serves up jumbo shrimp and fried green tomatoes. The saltwater pool forms a calm oasis in the courtyard, a quiet counterpoint to the Bourbon Street bustle outside the front door.

Neighborhood
Right on Bourbon Street, the Bourbon Orleans boasts quick access to the attractions of the French Quarter, as well as some of the finest music found in the "Birthplace of Jazz". Head down Orleans Street for the pedestrian-only section of Royal Street and its lively outdoor performers, or take a detour down Pirate Alley, which runs along the west side of St. Louis Cathedral and ends at Jackson Square, a U.S. National Historic Landmark. You're also never far from the banks of the Mississippi and its vintage steamboat tours.
Hints and tips
Balcony suites overlook Bourbon Street, St. Ann or Orleans Street, and the grand St. Louis Cathedral, so book here for a unique vantage point.

Those with a taste for the supernatural should keep their eyes peeled for the Bourbon's three 'resident' ghosts, including a confederate soldier patrolling the sixth and third floors and a spectral figure waltzing beneath the ballroom chandeliers.

nice place

The hotel is in a great location - right on Bourbon Street! Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Surprisingly quiet but when you are on the 6th floor, you dont get much street noise. The beds were small (doubles) and uncomfortable (old matresses). The room was very small. Better to park at the french market parking $20 versus $32 a night for parking and its only 2 blocks away. Hotel restaurant VERY OVER PRICED - stay away from it ($17 for a breakfast buffet - give me a break) - better food and more reasonable prices at local restaurants and so many to choose from !

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Bring your own booze - most bars will let you walk in with a drink and you are able to walk on the streets with drinks (no glass containers). Rouses Supermarket one block from the hotel - cheap compared to other liquor stores or hotel bar prices.

Unbeatable location for the price.

My husband and I stayed here for a quick weekend getaway. Location very close to nightlife. Room was very small but clean. The staff was very friendly. We will be booking again at the bourbon Orleans.

The overpriced adventure

The staff was very friendly, but the cleaning staff could definitely use some training. The shower and tub area had mildew in multiple places, the counter-tops were not cleaned very well at all, the coffe pot had been wiped down-not properly cleaned, and the carpets all looked dirty and worn.

downhill fast

This was always a favorite place to stay for me. I will not be returning. The rooms vary in size from extra large to matchbox and you can be certain that you will get a small room if you book through a discount site. The shower did not work and the staff didn't seem to feel that was important enough to get someone in quickly to fix it. The sheets and beds are of poor quality for a hotel in this class. The sheets do not even stay on the beds. You can also expect to wait at least 20 minutes to get your car through valet.

Nice hotel, small room

We spent the night at the Bourbon Orleans in order to be near the action of Bourbon Street and the French Quarter. The hotel is very well located, however is set back far enough from Bourbon Street to avoid the noise and commotion. Check in was quick and valet takes care of parking. (for ~$30)

Ok, we stayed, and we left

Greeting always great; but underlying problems in resolving problems: room keys did not work had to got to the desk over three times to get keys to work; heat was not in the room till Saturday after 7:00 AM when boiler was reset and took hour to get blanket to the room. Everyone was friendly but not too helpful. We went to the Bayou Classic events and had a great time and the room time was minimal. Last year we had much better acomondations. Great diretions to all places and great sugestions for meals.

It's OK

This was our second trip to New Orleans and the first time we stayed in the French Quarter. If your intentions are to spend most of your time in and around this area then the Bourbon Orleans should be adequate. We spent very little time at the hotel other than to sleep and so it fit our needs. Their restaurant was not open very often and we ate breakfast there only once in the seven days at the hotel. The hotel is located off Bourbon St. which at night is party central for the French Quarter. So if you are older like we are bring earplugs. We were on the sixth floor and could only hear the thumping base from the music off the street. It really wasn't that bad. If you like to party then the location of this hotel should fit the bill. The staff were both friendly and helpful. The only complaint we had was the dirty looking carpets. They really need a good scrubbing or need to be replaced completely. The hotel has a nice large outdoor pool in their central courtyard. If you have children they will really enjoy it.
