NOLA 2nd time around

Hotel was Okay- Location to Bourbon Street - great many nearby restaurants & bars Easy Walking distance to Jackson Square & River Walk. Bathroom sink was a little loose when I leaned on it, no wash clothes, Toilet was a little slow-needs a little attention to detail. Beds were very comfortable - outside deck was very nice, needs a little lighting at night. Missing a cozy place to have a night cap, I saw they were adding it on, maybe next time I am in NOLA I will visit. Staff was very accommodating and welcoming. Would stay again but not my first choice Stayed at the Mazarin a few years ago when I was in NOLA for my nieces wedding, much nicer rooms and full breakfast & a bar really liked it there, could not accommodate the days I was in town this time. All in all had a great time

Great Stay in the Quarter!

Our first time in New Orleans on our own since 1966. Had a great stay. Hotel is easy to deal with. We had an interior room so street noise was not an issue. There are great "hole in the wall" eateries all around and quickly found a favorite for po-boys and a beer. Daughter recommended the hotel as a favorite of hers and we see why. Look forward to another stay in the Fall.

Nice Gem

From the friendly doorman on arrival to our checkout we have nothing but good things to say about Bienville. The rooms were clean, staff very friendly, and everything was in working order. We also liked the location which was near everything in the French Quarters. We would stay there again.

Bienville House in New Orleans French Quarter

We just returned from a cruise that left from New Orleans. We stayed at Bienville House on our return from the cruise. We had a scare upon arrival as they didn't have our reservation. I showed the confirmation email that I had and they then found that they had us reserved for June 6th instead of April 6th! Cynthia at the front desk did her magic and although they were full they gave us a room. The hotel was very pretty throughout and our room was quite comfortable. We were awakened by fire engines at times in the night being right across the road but still slept ok. The staff was outstanding. From bringing our bags up and down for us and calling our cab for the airport. Friendly and always smiling. We would stay here again if visiting New Orleans.

Nice place, but BEWARE of rooms with NO WINDOWS!

I think we would have enjoyed our stay so much more had we not been stuck inside of a room in the middle of the hotel which had no windows. NO WINDOWS! I never knew such hotel rooms existed, and had I known, I would have asked ahead of time and not booked the place. This was bothersome because we had no way of knowing whether it was day or night, no way to check the temperature outside, no natural light, and no fresh air. It was like living in a small, dark, dank box. We reserved our room 3 months ahead of time and the other person in our party, though reserved a few weeks later, got a room with 3 windows, so getting your room early doesn't guarantee you anything! I also think the inner rooms are used for the rooms which allow pets, because a few fleas were jumping on us during our stay. The room was also positioned near the service elevator and exit doors, so we could hear the beeping of the elevator when it was being used and the loud thud of the heavy stairway door throughout the early morning and late into the night. We liked the shower - tons of water flow and the room was cleaned every day, though I don't think replacing towels every day is is necessary and seems to be a waste of energy. You have gym access at another hotel down the street, there's an ATM and an Asian Fusion restaurant at the hotel. The hotel is actually very nice, considering the small salt water pool, old Victorian feel decor in the rooms, and fairly friendly staff (especially the men on staff). It's also in a fairly central location. Thankfully the French Quarter (especially Royal Street and Jackson Square) was a wonderful escape from our cell, ahem - room. Get the room with no windows if you get lazy and tend to stay in your room, because the room with no windows will get you out and about.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

Go on a walking tour of the French Quarter, during the day or a Ghost tour at night. Knowing the history makes it so much more enjoyable. I recommend tour guide, Phillip, at French Quarter Phantoms and the any guide from Free Walking Tours.

Weekend Getaway

Another copuple and I stayed at this hotel over Martin Luther King weekend and couldn't have been more pleased with the comfort of the room, location and friendly staff. We enjoyed sitting in the couryard over coffee and chatting it up with the staff and locals. We would stay here again. The staff, especially Sarah, was very helpful and pleasent. Upon arriving at the hotel, our rooms weren't ready but when we were checked in we were upgraded which really made for a great surprise. If we return to NOLA we will be staying here. There was some noise from the street (car alarm and people yelling) but with Decatur street being right behind us, oh and the train, it really can't be helped. All in all a great stay and a highly recommened hotel.
