Even better than I had hoped for. Staff very attentive with a good, helpful attitude. Advice re: tours, restaurants, directions, etc. very helpful. For stays of a few days or longer, the kitchenette saved us a lot of money and inconvenience!

Happened on this gem, found later that several friends had chosen it on visits years ago and love it. The location is great -- trolley stop in front takes you out to Garden District one way, Downtown & Quarter the other way. Staff could not have been more helpful and gracious.

Excellent service; very comfortable
Very convenient location in the Garden District. Trolly stop is just outside hotel. Suite was very comfortable, newly refurbished with full kitchenette and dishware. The service was extremely attentive and friendly. We enjoyed our three night stay tremendously.

Good hotel, good price, good location.
A trolly runs in front, making travel economical. Nice, small pool. Nice area. Do NOT accept a room adjacent to loud, noisy elevators.

Avenue Plaza Resort - New Orleans
The staff was always friendly and helpful - valet, doorman, front desk, & housekeeping. They always seemed to be in a good mood and that helped set the tone for the day. The hotel was always clean - we didn't have a huge room (Single King - Non-smoking), but we were never in the room and it had everything we needed - including a kitchenette! The pool area was well kept. The water was clean and the landscaping/brickwork around the pool were in good shape. The bar's and restaurant's in the area were also good and close walking distance. We also felt safe walking in the area - St. Charles toward Magazine St. and all the way to Audabon park. And the St. Charles Streetcar stopped right in front of the hotel - very convenient.

Short walk from hotel
If you're going to be riding the streetcar or RTA bus very often - go to the corner store and get the 5-day 'Jazzy Pass'. Even if you don't use your $20.oo worth of rides, the convenience of walking right onto the car w/o counting change was well worth it. Sometimes, you get on faster and can find a seat versus standing for the whole trip.

Convenient location for sightseeing.
By the bed there was only one nightstand and light. It would have been nice to have a light on both sides of the bed. The chairs were straight back chairs -- it would have been nice to have a chair with arms or perhaps a love seat. When your day is done and you want to relax with a good book, the room lacked the items reference above.

There were a selection of restaurants within a short walk. The trolly stop was right across the street, so when you wanted to venture out it was easy transportation.

Close enough without the noise
I wanted to get a cross section experience while in New Orleans. Avenue Plaza was perfectly situated, in the heart of the garden district and a short hop on the trolly to the French Quarter or the shuttle stop to the Audobon Zoo. Not only was there a Chase Bank close by, but also amazing restaurants and a Walgreens pharmacy. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. They were helpful with tips for tours and places to see. There was personalization in details which I found very refreshing and kind.

Buy a day pass for the trolly/local transit. A day pass is only $5.00 and you can ride the trollies and the bus system. Otherwise, you pay $1.25 each time you board the trolly.

Great Weekend Stay
Hotel was Great! A nice alternative to the French Quarter. Hotel is located in the Business District about 5-10 mintues from the Quarter, but no worries about driving. The trolly stops in front of the hotel and takes you to the Quarter. Runs 24 hours and cost $1.25! Downtown can be a little dirty and overcrowded,so its nice to stay outside the area and check out the rest of the city. The hotel itself is well kept and the service is great. Helpful staff. No roomservice. which was okay for us. Great eateries right next door. Theres a steak house, a restaurant, and pub! A drugstore two blocks up for any last minutes things you might have forgotten at home. You can over look New Orleans from the hotel's rooftop. The view is amazing. Look forward to staying here again.
