My bedroom at home was bigger and better.
The bed room was clean but very small. Restroom was like at home. Never stayed in a hotel thatwas like my room at home although my room is better. Expected to be better.

very budget minded, nice staff
Nice helpful staff who allowed us to move from a kinda smelly out door accessable ( semi-secured courtyard)room to an indoor room. Floors, waLLS, hall were dirty. Chest, bedside furniture in room was in need of repair or replacement. Kind of a nice little spot with Trolly stop out front but a little to scrappy in general. Fast food clientel not faraway, may cause lower grades as well. Internet station in seating area. Great location to ride street car on full length (60-70-mins) roundtrip to both extrems, Canal /Claiborne ?

Emeril's Delmonico restaurant is 2-3 blocks away. St Charles Tavern, a good little watern' hole with bars up an down, was less than block away.

Avenue Garden Hotel
The room was right off the breakfast area and right by a parking lot. It was very noisy and the door didn't close all the way so you could hear sounds all night long, and light around the door, the room was very hot even with the air conditioner on the coldest setting. The ceiling fan didn't work properly. I was a single mom traveling with my 3 children and I was worried that the car would get broken into parked on the street and didn't want to come and go at night.

Cute Hotel Poorly Run
I did not see a check in time listed when I made my reservation with this hotel. However upon our arrival we were rudely informed that we were not supposed to check in till 3pm it was as if we were inconveniencing the staff. We were then scolded for having another guest that we had not originally planned on having. The manager is too young to have a hotel and treats it more as her house than a business allowing her daughter to run around screaming. The rest of the staff seemed put out by our presence and incompetent. This is quite a shame because the hotel itself is very cute and quaint.

It's ok but not great
The best part of the hotel is the location for the cost. We were walking distance from the main districts. This hotel needs major improvements: -no towel racks -air conditioner filter was dirty and smelled like urine -the bed sheets were dirty when we arrived -the breakfast was horrible (low quality coffee and low quality pastries)I was expecting fresh fruit, yogurt or eggs.

no frills, adequate
clean, convenient to the city, on street car line, parking was on public street and somewhat hazardous but I had no problems, no place to sit for real continental breakfast, room adequate, bed comfortable, small closet, price ok for location. Overall ok accomodations for single and young couple on budget.

Not bad
Hotel was alright. Good for the price and pretty good location. Very old building lots of character. Room was small and bed was big and Not comfortable. No water pressure. Very basic amenities provided. You can hear a lot of things. Hotel next to streetcar stop and near a few bars and restaurants. Slice next door was real yummy.

Great Location
The hotel was pretty nice. Located next to several great places to eat and right across from a streetcar stop it mad everything easy. My room was comfortable and tastefully decorated. However, the "breakfest" left somthing to be desired. Mostly a collection of grocery store bagels and breads and a coffee cake. One nice thing about the hotel was that it provided computer access alought the machine was painfully slow it was better than nothing.

Fair Price...
We happened to be staying there during the Sugar Bowl and the convenient streetcar line is right in front of the hotel so it made travel fairly easy. Unfortunately, while the staff was very nice, it didn't seem they knew much about anything we were asking about and continually had to do searches on google. In fact, they didn't even know how much a cab to the airport cost from their hotel. Anyway, the room was small, there's not much space in the bathroom, and the rooms seem worn, it's an okay hotel for the price. Next time, I will be looking to stay at a chain instead.

Money-saving tip:
Short walk from hotel
Purchase the streetcar pass (I believe it's available in 3 day increments) and get a great deal on rides and transfers.
