Good times.

We visited the many districts, from the marigny to the French quarter to the garden district. The hotel was cute, quiant and the staff was quite hospitable. Would definitely stay there again.

Great hotel

We stayed here to experience a couple of nights in New Orleans. Its in a great spot - handy to French Quarter - but not actually right in it so you it doesn't feel too touristy. Great staff - all our requests were dealt with promptly and courteously. The hotel itself is historic and quaint, but has all the amenities you would expect of a modern hotel. Would definitely stay here again.

Nice place to stay

I thought the hotel location (Garden District...just a 15-20 minute walk to the French Quarter) was great because it allowed us to be close to the French Quarter without actually being in it, thus our stay was a quiet one when it was time to sleep. The hotel staff was accommodating and professional, with a pleasant attitude as well. Parking is nonexistant at the hotel, but you can park on neighboring streets and expect that your car will be safe. The staff proudly report never having had an incident with regard to car safety, and I can say our car was fine for the entire stay...we parked it and never used it while there. The room had the smell you might expect of an older home, but that really shouldn't keep you from sleeping; it's New Orleans: you will want to spend most of your time outside the hotel anyway!! The continental breakfast included instant grits and oatmeal, as well as bagels and muffins, along with coffee, tea, and a fruit juice. No water, so if you don't like drinking from the faucet, bring your own. The bed was comfy and the room was clean. There is no fitness center, but you can use one across the street by showing your keys (not a great option if there is a torrential rain, but an option, nonetheless). If you have issues with staying in a hotel that is really two renovated old houses, this is not your place, but if that is no issue for you, it is a really nice place, at a great price!

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

You might want to have cash on hand, since you will have to use ATMs that probably don't belong to your bank in the French Quarter if you only have a debit card, and that can get expensive.

Lovely

Avenue Garden is a great hotel for those who want to be centrally located in New Orleans, but not in the French Quarter or in a chain hotel. Our room was a lovely suite, sitting room, king bed and a great bathroom. The hotel is on St. Charles, so the streetcar is literally right outside the front door. There are good restaurants near the hotel, but as I said it is centrally located, i.e. easy access to either Magazine Street or the French Quarter. The staff was very helpful and fun to talk with. All in all, a great place to stay!

Great value.

This family hotel was adorable. Clearly decorated in the 1980s, but with a New Orleans flare. The staff gave us a great recommendation for a swamp tour. They were always very friendly and helpful. Not all beds are created equal. We had two rooms. One had a very soft bed, while the other one had a harder bed. My only other concern is that there weren't more cool drink options at breakfast. They had 1 juice, but the other options were hot tea and hot coffee. I would absolutely visit again.
