Good value hotel

I stayed here for one night. It was a good experience, with the staff being very friendly. The room was not the most modern, but it was comfortable. Quiet spot in the outskirts of town. Pet friendly!

Don't Expect Much from the Front Desk

The room was fine - nothing great but good for the price. The grounds leave a bit to be desired, especially compared to their pictures, but again, it was great to have grass just outside the front door for our dog. We ran into a few staff members of housekeeping that were great - very friendly, remembered our names and very helpful. But everyone we talked to at the front desk was useless. One washing maching was broken the entire week we were there and despite the multiple calls to the front desk, our only answer was "we will let maintenance know". My one visit to the front desk to pick up a package that UPS had delivered to us (which of course the hotel did not advise us had arrived), and we inquired about the washing machine, we got "I have no idea - I have been off for 2 days". Really? That's the best response you could come up with? We knew the hotel offered continental breakfast, but getting there before 9am was a bit too early for us, but we didn't find out until our check-out that they also offer a lunch buffet. They have absolutely no information in the room about their own facility or the surrounding area so they lost out on us eating there, possibly every day. When I called the front desk to confirm the best mailing address for a shipment, she said "oh, just the hotel address". I "reminded" her that they have absolutley no information about the hotel in the rooms - nothing on the phone and no directory or printed hotel information. She had no idea

Americas best

The trip waa very enjoyable and the accomodations were adequate. Bed was comfortable and the room was fairly clean. The breakfast was minimal but satisfying. The staff was very accomodating and helpful. We were next to their laundary which ran all night and was a bit too loud. The restaurant was not open but two nights a week so that could have been better. All in all we were reasonably satisfied with our stay.

Money-saving tip: Short drive from hotel

Hotel was about 2 miles from the main attractions and really away from everything a bit too far. It was, however, the only reservation we could get at the time of the Christmas festival going on there that week.

misrepresented

First off, I found out upon arrival that the reserved and confirmed nonsmoking room was not available. I had to take a smoking room. The area of country did not have 3G (not the hotel's fault) so I joined the free wireless network that was promised. Most of the time I was able to get a signal but upon running a speed test, their wireless was 0.25 the average speed of wireless. I noticed a lot of men hanging around in reflective vests. Apparently this hotel was being used to house a road construction crew. I could hear their normal conversation easily through the walls (but I don't know Spanish). The room was small as it was an efficiency and I slept well on the bed. I had good hot water for my shower and housekeeping did a good job. In summary my only beef is the very misrepresented description I was given to believe upon researching this hotel.

In transition

Visting family in Natchitoches for Thanksgiving. The motel is now America's Best Value Inn, a long way from its beginnings as a Ramada. The room was clean, but the faucet leaked when I would go to shave or get a glass of water. It was nice to have Community Coffee in the room. The battery on the door key was weak, so it took several attempts each time to unlock the door.

Clean and Comfortable

During a previous stay, we were given a room facing the parking lot which was not up to the same standard as the room we were given this time which was facing the pool/courtyard (both were clean/maintained as well) but appeared to be "fresher". However, both rooms were equally comfortable and clean.

Travelodge Natchitoches

While they advertise for wireless internet, there was none. The desk clerk was more than happy to move us closer to the front desk where we were able to pick up a bit of a signal. BUT the room was so noisy...any and everyone that passed by, or stood in front of our room to visit!, was heard very clearly as if they were in the room with us...all night long.
