Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites LAKE CHARLES SOUTH

From the time I checked in until the time I checked out, which was before my visit was over, I felt extremely uncomfortable. As I was checking in, I was told ONLY guests could use the pool. Being that I came to this holtel to spend time with my family, and after a WHOLE PARTY of kids that were not guests were able to use the pool, I, then, was told my grandkids could use the pool. As far as the room, it was TOTALLY unacceptable! There was a disgusting stain on the floor that I had requested to be clean the 1st day of check in and was not done until I was leaving. Along with the stain, the microwave was dirty, our ice bucket lid was dirty and we were left without any soap or shampoo what so ever after the cleaning crew cleaned our room, on that 1st day, so we had to go search for those necessities. After I had asked for the stain to be removed for the second time and showed the front desk the ice bucket lid, I was then told I have been the ONLY one to ever complain...at this point I broke into teas and all I wanted to do was leave, which is just what I did. I spent 3 hours or maybe more along with my son-in-law trying to get refunded on the hotel and find a different one. I have NEVER had such poor hospitality anywhere and I will never choose this hotel again!!

Very nice customer service. The breakfast was fabulous. All the employees were very friendly. Having an indoor pool was nice for the kids. The room was very comfortable.

We have stayed at this Holiday Inn several times. It is always clean and the staff are friendly. Can't go wrong with this very good option in the Lake Charles Casino area.

I have stayed at a lot of Holiday Inn Expresses and have always been pleased; therefore, when I could get only Thursday night at the casino, because they were booked for Fri with the Julio Iglesias show, I selected the Holiday Inn Express online said to be in the vicinity. I drove by the hotel Thursday, so I would know where it was, and nearly went into shock; it was in a bad part of town toward the docks, and looked like it had been dropped into the middle of a slum; being alone, and seeing what appeared to be sleazy characters walking around by the hotel parking lot in the daytime, I definitely wasn't going to stay there,especially since I would be coming back from the casino at night in my nice car--there was not a gated lot, nor any signs of security. This hotel is not even a year old yet, very nice, clean hotel. The hotel is located in the middle of a run down neighborhood, when you look out your window you are looking into a trashy back yard. Also, the hot tub was never hot. The first night we were there, was a Friday night, the walls are paper thin, the guest on one side of us where so loud it was ridiculous, they started at about 7am, the guest on the other side of us had a baby and the dad was so loud playing with the baby, we just couldn't sleep. As we were leaving for the day on Saturday, the desk clerk asked how our stay was last night and we proceeded to tell her how noisy it was and her comment was" yea, it's going to be worse tonight, we have a wedding here, so it's going to be much noisier". Wow, that's comforting,way to make me want to come back. Saturday night was not much different, new guests on one side and she coughed all night long, then on the other side, we had the crying baby. Now we have people on top of us, that seemed to be bowling or something at 3am. If I were to do this again, I don't think we would stay here. For the price, it was absolutely ridiculous. Spent the extra money and stay at the casino. Also, they did come clean the room while we were out, but when we came back, we decided to take a nap since we didn't sleep at night and low and behold, a knock on the door, staff asking if the room had been cleaned, not 20 minutes later, another knock on the door, staff asking if we needed towels. HELLO, shouldn't this all be done at one time, it was just insane. I would not go back to this hotel. If you have children and are not used to getting any sleep, then this hotel will work for you. If your a couple and want some quite, look elsewhere, cause you won't get it here.

Unfortunately, my experience was less than perfect especially for the price of the room. The sheets were dirty with yellow stains, the floor vending machine was out of order, housekeeping knocks on your door beginning at 8:15 a.m. and finally because I was the only patron in the bar (watching a very important football game Saints vs Atlanta) they told me they were closing early. Hmmm.... the front dest was accommodating in changing rooms and I had to go downstairs to purchase soft drinks. Put your "do not disturb" sign out and you'll be fine. As for the bar.... To leave on a positive note the prices of their room service and portions were very reasonable and tasty. Just make sure that for breakfast you call before 10:00 a.m.

We weren't in the room for long, because we saw several spiders mostly in the bathroom & i am scared to death of spiders

Be sure to put your spouse on the check-in list because they can't check in if their name isn't on the reservation. Even if one staffer says they can, the other will not allow it, and you will be pulled away from your important business to deal with nonsense. The pool was closed before we made it back for the evening which was a bummer. I thought that was silly since it was an indoor pool. They have a restaurant inside so you have to pay for breakfast. The hotel is very beautiful inside. If I wasn't from there, I would have never known that the projects (government housing) is a stone's throw away (literally right across the street). None of the hoodlums bothered us though as the hotel is pretty recessed from the street. The bed was super comfy. The room was quite clean as this is a newer hotel. I felt comfortable letting my son crawl around on the floor. Overall, I felt like I paid too much for what I got, but I felt safe so I won't be too angry. Stay there but bring your own food and stick it in the mini fridge.
