I didn't know what I was getting into
This is less than what was advertised. Had to ask for toilet paper, towels, garbage service. Shower didn't work, vinyl in the bathroom patched with nails. Reservations were for 3 - only had 2 towels. No garbage bags. TV didn't work. Won't stay there again. EVER

Acceptable for a night
The staff are the best part of the experience,, friendly, helpful in correcting a registration error and getting us into a non-smoking room. It is a recently "refurbished" older motel, apparently under new management, that shows its age in walls and furnishings. The linens are fresh and clean but the bed cover was soiled. Toilet and lavatory are quite new. There were no unpleasant odors. The pillows and mattress are comfortable and the noise level was average, non-intrusive. It is about a $15 taxi ride from downtown NO; easily accessed by automobile, and is close to a public bus line. There are restaurants nearby.

Not Quite What We Were Expecting
A lot of reviews I read said you get what you paid for, but I would have to disagree. I have stayed in hotels that were much, much cheaper and were of a higher quality in every way. The room layout on the website did not match the room at all - it showed a queen bed and a couch, etc. There was no couch, and the room was tiny. There was a little kitchenette that we never utilized, but I suppose everything was functional. There was no hair dryer. No extra pillows or blankets or towels anywhere. The first night, we got back late to the hotel. It took a while for anyone to come when the buzzer rang, and when the security woman came in, she was so unnecessarily rude and unhelpful. The front desk staff during the daytime were semi-helpful. It was a place to sleep, and as far as providing some security and a roof over our heads, I suppose it served its purpose. But if you are looking for comfort, cleanliness, service or just a friendly/helpful attitude or smile from any of the staff at all...probably look elsewhere. It was about a 10 minute drive from the Algiers Ferry Terminal, also, where you can get a ferry across the river into New Orleans. I guarantee I will never stay here again, nor would i recommend it to anyone else.

Bad Stay
I arrived around 5:30 p.m. with my confirmation numbers and proof of payment. I was told hotel was sold out (although looking at the mostly empty parking lot and limited guests, that was hard to believe.) Hotel blamed agent. Agent blamed hotel. I spent almost 3 hours waiting to get my prepaid room, during which I spent an hour on the phone with agent during 3 calls, one of which lasted over 40 minutes. There were no other hotels to be had in New Orleans. Thankfully, I finally got a room. It was adequate except for the pervasive lysol odor, and the bathroom floor was very sticky on the bottom of my shoes. I don't think I'll ever use this agent or stay at hotel again. Lesson learned.....

MARDI GRA 2012
WE ARE FROM THAT AREA BUT NEVER STAYED AT SUN SUITES. I READ THE PREVIOUS POST AND THEY ARE WRONG OR AT LEAST I DIDNT ENCOUNTER ANY ISSUES. WE WERE THERE MEARLY TO BATH AND REST OUR HEADS. THE ROOMS ARE SMALL BUT THEN AGAIN WE TOOK A LOAD OF STUFF. THE ROOMS WERE CLEAN.. ITS NOT THE RITZ'S BY NO MEAN- BUT IT WAS COMFORTABLE AND CLEAN. THE ONLY ISSUES WAS WE HAD TWO SEPERATE RESERVATIONS AND I EXPLAINED AT CHECK IN BUT WE GOT LOCKED OUT THE DAY BETWEEN OUR SECOND RESERVATION BUT IT WAS NO BIG DEAL. THEY JUST REKEYED OUR ROOM WITH NO PROBLEMS. DURING MARDI GRA THE HOTEL IS NOT THE PLACE TO BE FOR REST. THERE IS ALOT GOING ON, OVERRALL IT WAS GOOD FOR US AND WE WILL USE AGAIN. YOU CANT BEAT THE ROOM RATES DURING CARNVIAL SEASON. BUT I DIDNT SEE ANY OF THE SCARY STUFF PEOPLE HAD PREVIOUSLY WROTE. YOU CANT BEAT THE LOCATION AND PLACES AROUND IT.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE
It is in the worst possible neighborhood, each time you want to cross the river it's going to cost you a ton of money. It is not clean, the staff are kindhearted but completely inadequate to do their job. The room are not clean, it is because of the fact that they don't have a decent house keeping staff. They DO NOT clean your room until you have left. Your towels are not replaced EVER and if you want new towels you have to take your wet towels downstairs (no bag is provided) to get new towels but %99.9999 of the time they are out of clean towels.
