Great staycation!

We were here for a night , it was a last minute booking but we ended up getting an upgrade to the club level. Every single hotel person greeted us and it felt like home! Walked the short distance to 4th street love for a great selection of beer at the pubs and restaurants . We ordered the must have "hot brown" and room service was even nice enough to split it for two ... Yumm!! Overall we will be staying at the brown again in the future

Great ladies night out

My daughters and I traveled to Louisville for an overnight Christmas getaway. I chose The Brown because it is unique and on the main road - a few blocks up to 4th Street Live for evening's entertainment. When we checked in we were upgraded to a better room and enjoyed the extras. We would stay there again for sure. The only thing that was less than perfect is I tried setting the thermostat for above 70 degrees and it wouldn't go above 70. But that was very minor.

Nightlife tip: Short walk from hotel

4th street live is where the evening clubs are - it is not a long walk from the hotel- only about 4 blocks - but if you were going to drink excessively you might want to be closer.

A True Southern Classic

In town for a wedding. Checked in - lobby is gorgeous. Upgraded for free to a nicer room. The room itself was not opulent, but was extremely comfortable with many thoughtful touches. The bathroom was exquisite. Bed very comfortable. Continental breakfast was the best I have ever had - (fresh biscuits, three types of honey, fresh squeezed OJ.) Stayed for lunch and had the Hot Brown - pure sin.

The Brown Hotel

Wonderful historic hotel, beautifully restored. Staff all over the hotel stopped and offered assistance and bits of hotel history truly treating us as guests. Club Floor had its own light buffet and refreshment room. Spacious room, decorated in original Brown Hotel style. Right up the street from the Palace Theater where we attended a concert, and convenient to evening activities downtown. Holiday atmosphere. Special thank you to all the staff.

The Palace Theater, is a place to see by itself, with its ornate period decor - catch an Allison Kraus performace as we did for a memorable weekend in Louisville.

The best hotel in Louisville!

The Brown hotel is an exquisite grand hotel in downtown Louisville. The hotel is rich in history and has old world charm and character. All staff are extemely warm, friendly and, professional. The rooms are comfortable, clean, and oversized. The location offers just a short walk to "4th street live" which is the city's center for entertainment including night clubs, theater, and fine restaurants.

Awesome Hotel!

This hotel was great. I checked in after having booked a fairly inexpensive single room, and the lady at the front counter upgraded me to the club floor for free, which included complimentary wine, beer, soft drinks, and snacks for a time during the night and complimentary continental breakfast in the morning. I guess that's probably not something you can hope for in every case, but it was still pretty snazzy. Even without the free stuff, I loved the architecture. However, as a young person traveling alone, I did not feel entirely welcome in this hotel. The doormen seemed to doubt that I belonged there, as did other guests who I shared the elevator with. Also, be wary travelling on the weekends to this part of Louisville. It seemed like many of the restaurants were closed for the weekend.

There's a rather miniature outdoor mall about two blocks away from the Brown, called Fourth Street Live. It doesn't have much in the way of shopping, but it has a lot of food options.

great deal for the price

Neat time period hotel. We were given a room on the club floor which has a free beer and wine hour unfortunately we arrived too late for that. Nice walking area around hotel plenty of cafes restaurants and bars. The only negative thing was still having to pay for parking in the garage attached to the hotel.
