Very Good Buy
Nick Nov 23, 2009
We travel with a small dog. We needed a location near downtown. By far this was the best buy for our money. We were very ... pleased with the rates, the comfort and cleanliness of the rooms, the helpfulness of the staff. The breakfast bar was adequate, hot meatsm eggs, cereals, and fresh fruit for $8.00. We wre traveling in a rental car. Had that not been the case, the lack of secured parking in what a local police officer told me was "not a safe neighborhood" would have been of concern.

All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The swimming pool was very refreshing (cold, but nice). My wife and I enjoyed ... the outdoor spa. The gym was nice with the dry Sauna, treadmill and weight equipment. On vacation I always work out a minimum of 1 1/2 hours daily.

Overall good, with a few minor problems
Steve Jul 15, 2009
I liked the location, it is only a couple blocks from downtown. There is a McDonald's, Wendy's, and Spangles(which I've ... never had before but they make a mean Sourdough Sausage Egg & Cheese Breakfast Sandwich). Right on the freeway. Drive a few blocks to get into Old Town where there is a wide selection of bars/restaurants to choose from. Besides either not having the option of a non-smoking room or me missing that option, and the internet not working, it was a good stay. I would stay again, though I might try somewhere else first just to compare. Pop machines don't take dollar bills, but you can put a dollar into the Candy/Chip Vending Machine on 2nd floor and hit coin return to get quarters.

overnight stay
K.H. Feb 22, 2009
We have stayed in this hotel twice. Both were quick overnight trips for our child's competitions. The rooms were very clean ... on both trips, and the staff was very helpful. There are several places to eat nearby, if you have a car. The first time we stayed at this hotel, it was a quiet stay. That's why we went back. Unfortunately, on the second trip, we were located on a different side of the hotel. Trains ran all night, and I mean ALL night. We almost left in the middle of the night it got so bad. I would definitely recommend this hotel, but only if they can guarantee you on are on the trainless side of the building.

Clean and convienent
Sarah Nov 2, 2008
Room was clean. Hotel was clean. Sauna was great! THe fitness room was also great with lots of nice equipment and a new ... flatscreen TV. The room was pretty small but not uncomfortable. For some reason there was no ventilation for the bathroom so when someone takes a shower it steams up the whole room. Please do not go to the restauraunt. The food was OK but the service was terrible. If you like getting all of your food at the same time, this is not the restauraunt for you. We had a party of four and the waiter slowly brought us our food one at a time for about an hour total. It was like the cook could not multitask and was only making one persons food at a time. Overall, I would probably stay here again as it is nice and less expensive than other hotels in the area.

A Nice Stay!

The Holiday Hotel and Suites was a very enjoyable place to stay. Although the room was a bit on the small side it was very ... clean. My check in was fast and easy, and the staff that I encountered was very helpful. Access to the hotel was easy to find use, making driving in and out less of a hassle.

Small beds, high price
Lisa Jun 13, 2008
I generally expect a clean hotel with continental breakfast and normal-sized beds. I'm not a big person, but my feet were ... hanging over the foot of the bed. My husband's legs from the knees down were hanging over the edge. And . . . we had no electricity due to storms. No alarm clock, no television, no lights to read, nothing. However, they did comp us some iced tea.

Business Accomodations
Spencer Feb 12, 2008
I enjoyed the proximity to Old Town and the Restaurants. The highway was right next to the hotel which made traveling around ... the city easy, but it could also be noisy in the room with all the traffic just outside the hotel. The sauna and the fitness center were a nice ammenity but the restaurant in the hotel was not good. Limited and ecclectic selection for lunch/dinner and the breakfast hot bar wasn't very appealing. After 2 mornings of the bar, I went to the grocery for milk and cereal which I could do since the hotel rooms have microwaves and mini fridges. As far as a place to stay for a business trip, the price was fair, the hotel was clean, the staff friendly and courteous and the ammenities took the edge off being away from home. I have stayed here twice and on my next visit, I will be returning to the Downtown Holiday Inn.

Definitely hit Spangles which is just acrossed the street. Great burgers and even better shakes. For a classier meal, Scotch and Sirloin was a short drive. For a fun nightlife, drive the 7 minutes to Old Town and if it is warm enough, walk from bar to bar or restaurant to restaurant.

As in?
Michael Jun 24, 2007
We were very dissatisfied with the hotel staff, especially check-in. We tried to check in at 3:00 p.m. and were told to come ... back later because our rooms were not ready. When I asked if there was an alternative, the female desk clerk with the fashion painted finger nails replied, As in?. We were given the choice of changing in the public bathroom. Since we had to get to our family event we took the choice. After we voiced our displeasure, the male desk clerk offered to change our rooms to rooms that were ready. We agreed but didn't have time to check in. The hotel is comfortable and clean but I wouldn't recommend it to travelers because their check-in time is too late and their check-out time of 11:00 a.m is too early. If you're not out the cleaning staff will try to coax you out. They have no complementary breakast bar. Pool hot tub wasn't filtered very well as plenty of bugs were floating around.

Janet Jun 10, 2007
The Holiday Inn & Suites was comfortable. The rooms were on the small side but amenities took up for that lack. We had an ... executive room or suite, I'm not sure. It had a king size bed w/ a pullout coach and a small desk area. It also had a small refrigerator and microwave. It was very convienent to the Ice arena except for the road construction going on to improve the downtown area which will be very nice when completed. Old Town was a neat place to visit. The hotel had a nice restaurant inside the hotel and of course with room service. The were other eating facilities close by or a block away.
