Good Experience

There is a bunch of stuff to do including a great pool, badmitton, sauna, the room was spacious. The breakfast was nice, not just sweet rolls but biscuits & gravy and eggs or waffles! I will definetly go back to this hotel. Our room was a little far away but that is just because it is a large hotel.

Kansas for the holidays

Our stay at the Ramada was pretty good overall. The building is old, but has an interesting design with an indoor pool as its centerpiece. Because our room was on the first floor and was facing the pool, we had to keep our curtains closed the entire time lest someone see everything happening in our room. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We had a family with several kids in the next room, so we were woken up every morning with shouting and crying, but I guess that happens anywhere. Free breakfast was good, especially the Belgian waffles. The room had a fridge, microwave, tv, iron, and free wifi.

Don't even think about it!

My family and I were visiting KC from Los Angeles. I made a reservation for 8 nights. Let me just say that as soon as we pulled up the driveway things didn't look that promising. The young man at the front dest seemed very unhappy to be there and did not smile. When we opened the door to the room it was as if someone had opened a 1,000 year old tomb. The smell was just horendous something between old musky carpet and a history of about 30 yrs of cigarrete smoke (and this was supposed to be a non-smoking room).

Fawlty Towers

This place felt like Fawlty Towers, if you have ever seen the British sitcom with John Cleese, you would know what I'm talking about. A couple of the staff memebers were on the rude side and seemed annoyed that I asked a question. Nothing seems to work here; vending machines, AC/Heater in room, sauna. They do have a new restaurant in the hotel called the OX which was good. The pool works and is located in a high volume space with neat upper windows. But, overall this place leaves something to be desired. There are numerous weird changes in floor elevation and the place is in serious need of remodel / investment.

Racing weekend

First room they gaves smelled bad and we could stand to be in it. They give us another room to check out and at least it smelled a lil better. But the room was not real clean. Staff was not friendly at all. There were no towels available. Cost was way to much for the room for the appearance and hospitality of the staff. I would not recommend this hotel nor would I stay there again.

Needs improvement

This is a U shaped two story hotel that was at some time in the past enclosed. Probably built in the 70's and now feels like an 80's hotel. After check in we were directed to the rear of the hotel to access our room. As we drove on hotel grounds we passed a garage where a car was being repaired (looked like a commercial business). We also passed a building that was labeled Knights Inn. I can't figure out if this hotel was an original Knights Inn. The first room we looked at smelled like someone had smoked in it. Smoking in rooms is against the law here. The second room had a toilet that wasn't filling after a flush. Linens in this room looked to be outdated - something from the 90's. The third room was on the interior with the room door and glass windows opening onto a corridor that used to be outside but was now enclosed. So no sunlight entered this room and the curtains had to be kept closed for privacy. The room door lock did not function very well. however, we accepted this room. Beds were hard, but the linen was decent. Furniture was worn and from the 80's I'm guessing. Shower heads were set to conserve water (which was ok). The shower water temperature was ok in the morning but the one evening we showered, the water was barely warm enough. Breakfast was adequate but the exact same offerings every day. The cook had to be searched for many times to renew items that ran out or were broken. My overall impression of this hotel is outdated, falling apart and not maintained adequately. Apathy and or frustration on the part of management. My experience would suggest a hotel on the level of a Motel 6. So it surprised me it had a Ramada label. Would not stay here again.

Ok except for continental breakfast.

There are some good things about this hotel, as well as some areas for improvements. We are a family of 6, so it was awesome to have double adjoining rooms. This is not a feature that we find often in our travels. The hotel is being renovated and the lobby and pool area are very nice. The rooms are still a dated, but they are clean. The rooms can be a bit noisy, but that has to do with the large open area for the pool, games and breakfast area. Sound really carries. We found that if you turn your thermostat to "low" for the fan, it will drown out any noise outside your room. In one of our rooms, the bathroom fan did not work, the toilet would not quit running after being flushed and the shower curtain bracket was loose from the wall, so the shower curtain would not stay where it needed to be, so alittle extra water on the floor, but not the end of the world. The beds could be a bit more comfortable and it would be nice if they were queen size instead of just doubles. The first morning of continental breakfast we arrived at about 8 am and it was supposed to go until 9:30 am. By 8:30 am, the women running it started taking things back to the kitchen and refused to make more biscuits for the customer that asked for more. I could understand this if it was close to the ending time, but they still had an hour to go. That customer left very upset and I don't blame him. They ran out of coffee that morning as well. The second morning they ran out of coffee cups, and the third morning they served pancakes, without syrup. My kids were told that they didn't know where it was. So - the continental breakfast definately needs an overhaul. The ice machines only worked the afternoon that we arrived. The rest of the nights I spent running around the hotel trying all of the different machines. When we inquired at the front desk, we were always told the guy was coming "tomorrow" to fix them. The ice machines typically would not be a big deal, except we had someone with an injury that needed to be iced down, so it was an issue for us. Overall, the level of customer service was average. They really did not seem all that concerned about making sure the customers were happy. The indoor pool was a very nice feature - one you don't see much of in Overland Park, KS.

Hotel Not Great

The room was dirty when we entered, bed not changed, someone elses trash and food was still in room. We either got aomeone elses room, or the maid service did not clean. the front desk offered no apologies and did not know the reason for the unclean room. They gave us another room though, how very thoughtful. Also I choose this hotel for the jacuzzi, and the jacuzzi was broken. That should be told upon reserving the hotel. I was very dissapointed and will never stay at this hotel again, and I am hesitant about using this site again. You had this Hotel at a 3.5-4 star rate. Not even!! From, Very dissatisfied customer.
