Family weekend Getaway

Went to Lawrence for the weekend to watch a Kansas University Basketball Game. The Hotel Location was Convienient and fairly close to the campus. Rooms were ok but need modernized. There was no refrigerator, and not much room to hang up clothes. After the Game, we went to the hotel bar / lounge to visit and watch other sports. We were joined by a long time friend who is my daughters Godfather. My wife, son (21) daughter (18) , friend and myself were sitting at a table when the waitress came up and said the manager had singled out my daughter and she had to leave. Saying if authorities came in they would get in trouble for someone under 21 being in the bar after 10 when no food was being served. The trouble is, there is no Kansas law saying someone under 21 can't be in there after 10. As long as the under age person is not drinking then it is perfectly legal. We pointed this out and it then became hotel policy that she couldn't be in there even though she was not drinking and was with her parents. My wife and daughter then had to go back to the room. I talked to the manager about this and let it be known that My daughter was under her parents supervision and that as guests of the hotel we should be allowed to sit in there and visit. This motel clearly has policies that are not family friendly and they are not willing to make exceptions for any circumstance. I would not recommend staying at this hotel. When you compare the overall price to value of services and factor in no refrigerators in the room and management policies that are not family friendly.

If you have children over 18 and under 21 and want to set in the lounge and watch the big screens and visit with friends. Go to almost any other Pub in Lawrence and they will have family friendly policies and treat you like a guest. Just avoid the Holidome and Patty O Quigley's.

Good Times

I stay at this hotel often, but this time I was not too impressed. I was not given a "Do Not Disturb" sign and I had housekeeping knocking on my door at 7am, not OK. When I asked the housekeeper for a sign she went and got one for me,which was nice but she knocked on the door again to give it to me when ahe could have just left it in the door. She spoke very little english, again not OK. She woke up my two babies and my wife, seriously not OK. My overall experience with this Hotel is good.

If you have't had Yellow Sub please try it. I think it's the last one in exsistance, due to the owner selling his share and the name and product changed. This is the best sub on the planet period. 23rd and Iowa.

Overpriced and Under accomodating.

I have stayed in multiple 4 and 5 star hotels. Many of these stays were at a lower rate than I paid for the Holiday Inn Holidome in Lawrence, Ks. The Holidome is a 2 star joint with a 4 to 5 star price. The hotel staff were mild at best and the beds were smaller and harder than any hotel I've ever stayed in. Worst of all my room's shower didn't drain properly and the tub had 3 inches of water in it before I was finished.

Liked the amenities

The hotel was great because of the location, pool and restaurant. We stayed here during a stop on a road trip. It was perfect for our young child to play in the pool before bed. The room smelled very musty and it wasn't very clean.

Holiday Inn Holidome in Lawrence KS

Was upset that I did not get adjoining rooms nor they had that option for by the pool. Would not work with me for a lower price room and was charged for pool side. [...] Also - was planning on renting a pay per view movie. They told me they did not have the option right now because under negotiations with the cable company. Finally - on net said breakfast included in price - when go there it wasn't

Disappointment all around

This trip was planned as a family get together to visit my niece who is attending the University of Kansas. [...] The room was OK. Everything else was lackluster. The first night I could not reach the front desk for a wake up call. The next night it took 3 trys for an answer. Saturday my room was not cleaned.I would never stay at the Holiday Inn in Lawrence again. On a side note, Lawrence is a beautiful city and the university is great. I will go to Lawrence again.

The old downtown of Lawrence is filled with wonderful stores and restaurants. Most are independently owned and very unique. We spent time at a piano bar Saturday night and had a great time.
