South Bend downer
Hotel was old and musty. If you want a trip to the 70s, this is the hotel for you. Fitness equipment was in bad shape and the most important item in any gym, equipment sterilizer was non-existent. We will never go there again.

Great place to stay for ND football!
This hotel was fabulous. The staff was so accommodating! The bed was comfy and it was an easy commute to the Notre Dame football game. It was also in a great location-- so much to do downtown!

Notre Dame first class, Ramada third world
Old run down Holiday Inn cast off. Nice back in the day but now a lackluster dinosaur. Elevator lights did not work properly. Breakfast very blah, cold eggs, old fruit, tacky paper rolled out on top of linens. Service is second rate. We were placed in a room with double beds and handicap shower without any warning from front desk. Paid twice the rate of a nice Westin in Chicago. Rip off in South Bend. No pot of gold here. Only scamrocks......

Ramada Plaza South Bend
This hotel is a strong candidate for remodeling. The Restaurant lost it's liquor license last June. This was not pointed out until after we arrived. If not for Notre Dame football I doubt many people would stay at this hotel. For $250 a night, way out of line.

Should have stayed at a relatives
Hard water made lathering soap difficult. Bathtub faucet leaked onto floor when shower head was enabled. Bathroom sink faucet shot out like a fire hose. Left early one of the days around 9 am and returned later that night to a room that wasn't attended to by house keeping. No exhaust fan in the bathroom. The window view to my left was the site of a machine that looked like it had been struck by lightning about a thousand times, leaking or perspiring continuously water or fluid. Oblivious staff when checking in at a late hour reminded me of a pet fee that I had already paid thru [...]. Security, who were all very kind, alerted me to the fact that I never received a parking permit from hotel staff. Hadn't I never received a parking permit my rented vehicle might have been towed. The security staff were kind people and the only staff that were helpful. The Continental Breakfast provided by The Cellar should be free. It was a continental breakfast you could get in any hotel for free with your stay. I also purchased a room for Mother and Step-Father. They were given the wrong key and a room that was occupied the night of checking in.

FANTASTIC STAY AT THE RAMADA PLAZA
The staff at the Ramada Plaza South Bend Indiana are a credit to the hotel industry. From the manager to Stacy(above and beyond in all areas). The sweet waitress at breakfast and the head housekeeper make you feel like family. The desk staff is welcoming and professional. [...] who picked me up at the airport is a gem of a gentleman and made me feel like family about 30 seconds after picking me up. I have worked in the hotel business over 30 years and this is one excellent property. I actually worked at this location in the early 70's(under a different hotel name, at the age of 16 in the banquet department.) This is a grand ol' dame of hotels in South Bend. It may have a few minor issues for the snooty and impossible to please, but a great value for the price. There are newer properties in South Bend, but you will be hard pressed to find more professional and welcoming staff at any location. My stay was really wonderful and my sincere thanks to the entire staff and management. I will gladly stay there again next year upon my return visit and thereafter. God Bless and Thank you all. In Hotel
Take the time to have at least one dinner in the Summit Club private club on the 25th floor. Cesar is a master of table side service and presentation. The staff of the Summit Club is world class excellent. I live in New Orleans and know fine dining and The Summit Club staff is on par with any fine dining in the world.

Downtown Delight
This hotel was a good deal for the special price which was part of a air-hotel-car deal. Situated at the heart of downtown South Bend, the Ramada Plaza is surrounded by a number of good restaurants and coffee houses, the Century Center convention area, South Bend Museum of Art, and for the football fans, the College Football Hall of Fame - all within short walking distance! The only problem with the building itself is that it must have been a former Holiday Inn and the signs are still on the outside of the building. This made it a little difficult to find by sight while driving. However, it is not difficult to find. The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful with all enquiries. The room, though average in presentation and extra amenities, was clean and the bed, comfortable. I would recommend this hotel to those who are looking for a deal in an ideal spot in South Bend.

Highest building in South Bend w/ nice $
The Ramada Hotel used to be a Holiday Inn. Kind of unexpectedly, the building is named "Chase", as half of it from the ground to the top belongs to Chase Bank and some other businesses. As a result, parking for Ramada guests is limited to 4-5th floor and you need to be careful because of the confined space. My executive king-bed single room, as always, conforms to the standards of Ramada. No fridge in my room. Finally, the Cellar Door in the lower room is a nice restaurant, with daily special combination.
