Pleasant surprise
Good size, well furnished room. Refrigerator, coffee maker, and microwave provided. Nice view out the back of the woods. They have a pool and exercise room, but we didn't check them out because we got there late and needed to get going in the morning. Free breakfast wasn't exciting but OK. Quiet surroundings.

Great Experience at a Special Place
For a family wanting to enjoy a few days relaxing in the Indiana Dunes area, this was the perfect choice. The low price ($59 per night for a double queen room) had me nervous until we arrived and saw that the place was just as it was described on the hotel's web site. The outside of the hotel and the lobby/eating area look like something out of a fairy tale. Each room has it's own balcony and ours looked out into a mature wooded area. Our floor had a quiet reading/gathering area that also looked out into the woods and was perfect for getting away from the kids while they were watching their cartoons. Our room was clean and the beds and pillows were comfortable. The bathroom was large with plenty of counter space. The carpeting was older, but we usually don't let the kids roll around on the floor in hotel rooms anyway. The staff were all friendly and courteous. The free breakfast was typical of what you might find at AmericInn, etc. but the eating area was much nicer. I did start to get tired of the fruit cocktail after the 4th day though! (Did I mention it was free?) For some reason, even the other guests seemed friendlier and more laid back; possibly because of the peaceful setting of the place. The pool itself was fine and the water was clean, but the area around the pool had some missing tiles and peeling paint that took a little away from the attractiveness of that area. The kids didn't seem to notice though! All-in-all, this hotel made our trip to the Indiana Dunes an enjoyable one and will definitely be our first choice if we decide to visit this area again in the future.

Awful Experience
When I got to the hotel, my first room had an over powering smoke smell. I asked for a second room and it smelled musty and the bathroom smelled like urine. I checked out within 20 minutes. [...] That hotel was awful.

We stayed here simply to sleep and go. We were pleasantly surprised by the cozy atmosphere and the cleanliness. It had that family business feel and we couldn't have felt more at home. The price (~$60) was well worth it...bring your GPS if arriving at night, it's set back into the woods and cannot be seen from the main road.

June Vacation
[...] the hotel was sold out. Thankfully someone had just cancelled when we arrived, so we were able to stay, but it was a smoking room! The room stunk SO badly that we couldn't sleep well, especially my two children. That smell made everything feel dirty, including our clothes and hair. The hot tub was broken, but at least the kids got to swim in the pool. The breakfast was okay for the price. The entry and dining area are nice. In all, the hotel was a good value for the price, and maybe the other rooms are nicer than the one we had to have.

not good at all
The area you walk into to check in was decent but it all goes down hill from there. My non smoking room smelled like it had been smoked in for 30 years. The carpets were so dirty that i was afraid to take my socks off. It appeared as if the comforter hadnt been washed since the 80s. The girl at the desk in the morning seemed like she hated being there. At least the girl in the afternoon was very apologetic. I am waiting to hear from a manager to see if i get a refund. We had to get reservations at a different hotel. If you choose to stay...proceed with caution!

There is not really anything around here. Everywhere we went was closed, for sale or not that great. The only good thing was the dunes and its hard to make those bad.

Cute place, but needs some work...
I was moving out of town so my best girlfriends got together for a girls night away from the guys and kids. The hot tub was down, the front desk personnel were unfriendly except for a black gentleman whom was very friendly and wore a smile on his face everytime we saw him. [...] They did not have extra pillows when we requested. Weekend breakfast could have two waffle makers. Blankets had stains all over them. The hotel is very cute and in a quiet area making it a nice getaway for us girls who live in a constant hustle and bustle of young children.

Springhouse Inn
The hotel was a surprise to us. The outside looked a rundown but once inside, while needing updating, the rooms were very spacious and we were happily surprised by the balcony off of each room. There was an issue with the A/C but since the weather turned cold, we didn't push the issue. The Springhouse Inn was willing to change our room after looking at the A/C. We had a 2-queen sized room and there was still room for a roll away and to move around. Very nice sized rooms! I would definitely go back and have already recommended them to family. The pool was in service but the hot tub was out of service. They also had a sauna which was another pleasant surprise!

Had a great time very private location, nice view, staff did what ever they could to help. The hot tube and the sauna were not in order is the only complaint we had.
