A lovely, peaceful place

From the moment we checked in, I loved this place. The grounds, the room, the restaurant, the staff. Everything was simply lovely. The room had a 4 poster bed, the lake had a swan, there was a walking path, and New Harmony is a sweet town.

Lovely spot

New Harmony is a special location- peaceful, beautiful, and full of history. This hotel is right in the heart of the history and fits in very well. It is well designed and the rooms are modern and well equipped. The breakfast was good and healthy. I'd definitely recommend.

What a Charmer

A beautiful lodge....serene location....fabulous destination for those who enjoy peace and tranquility. Filled with history, art, gardens and interesting information about our countries past. Right next to Red Geranium Restaurant....a lovely place to dine. Couples weekend, girlfriends get away or time to be alone....all reasons to stay at New Harmony Inn. (Not children friendly.)

Relaxing lovely place; great location

The roads are not well lit, so it was a bit of a challenge. Go during the day..The hotel is professionally run, but you are aware that it is a a conference center. The facilities looked upscale and there was a nice breakfast with a lovely room that also had fireplaces. The rooms were clean and well appointed. Everyone has their own opinion on how hard beds should be so I'll pass on that. The breakfast room had a choice of small and communal tables, and we got to eat with a interesting group on a retreat. Would definitely return when it is warm and light.

If you don't want to eat in the hotel, which is pricey, check out the VFW or have dinner before you get there.

Nice Hotel in Picturesque Setting

I recently stayed two nights at the New Harmony Inn and very much enjoyed my stay. Check-in went smoothly, and after a short time in my room I received a phone call from hotel staff welcoming me to the property. The hotel has free bikes which are great to ride around the little town. New Harmony isn't an overly exciting place, rather, it's a nice place to relax and get away from it all. You can walk around the shops, eat at a diner or at the Red Geranium restaurant, and just wander around learning about New Harmony's history. Plus, it is a good place to just walk. My room was ample size. The only complaint is that the lighting in all the rooms is pretty poor. Sure, you can see, but the bulbs could be brighter. But the room was clean and featured up-to-date amenities and furniture. If I ever return to New Harmony, I would stay there again.

Dining tip: In Hotel

If you are planning to eat at the Red Geranium Inn for any meal, even breakfast, it is helpful to call ahead and make reservations. It will save you the sometimes long waits once you get to the restaurant.

Beautiful & Relaxing

The New Harmony Inn is a wonderful place to unwind. The restaurant is top notch! There grounds are beautiful. You can swim in the heated pool when the Indiana snow hit. The town is small and interesting. There is everything from a modern art museum to a roofless church! Our room was beautiful with arched ceilings and a pencil post bed. I can't wait to go back!!

An Idea Expressed in Hospitality

New Harmony Inn derives its charm and appeal from its location, in a cultural and religious destination. The community's history provides the attraction and The Inn makes the most of it by providing simple yet attractive accommodations at a reasonable price. We were simple tourists, not conference attendees, so the meeting facilities were not relevant. The adjacent dining accomodations were very good, although somewhat overpriced for the level of quality. Staff were attentive and responsive, and our overall experience was very positive. We look forward to returning in the spring of '08.

We greatly enjoyed the walking tour, conducted by the guide, and the historic buildings from the early Harmonist foundations. The Athenium, the Granary, and many other buildings are well worth the trip.

Nice Midwest Getaway

The weather was pleasantly cool and we slept with the balcony door open and the fireplace on -- cozy and romantic. The Red Geranium Restaurant was very good, with a pretty extensive menu, excellent service and very good food. The menu includes wine suggestions for many of the entrees. I had the best massage I have ever had at the Harmony Inn Spa, across the narrow street from the Inn. However, the massage was so relaxing, I had little spunk left for museum touring. Better to save the spa for later in the day. The pool house was warm and lovely, and we enjoyed touring the gardens on a rented golf cart. The peace and tranquility was a welcome respite. The rountrip drive from St. Louis metro area was do-able in a regular weekend. all in all, a pleasant, restful experience.
