Super 8 Merrillville/Gary Area

Hotel was fine for a quick stay; the price was a bit hight for this type of quck stay.

It was like a transient stop. The hotel building was the most unattractive of all hotels in that area. A bunch of semi-trucks parked on the side. People sitting and/or standing on the ground at the entrance door smoking and/or drinking beer. The breakfast was terrible with stale dried donuts, only one choice of cereal the kids didn't care for and a little juice. The water closet didn't flush properly in one of my rooms and the toilet was not clean with filthy rings around the inside and on top of the seat. Some of the bedding covers looked dirty, some towels looked dingy and the carpet did not look too clean. Cobwebs were also in the corner of the shower, while dirt was around the baseboard of the floors. It was nasty beneath the sink, and the microwave was filthy inside. It didn't have the freshes odor. The telephone in one room didn't work.

close to many restaurants and stores but you can hear some distant I-65 noise from big trucks while in bed on west side rooms of hotel. courteous staff very clean room and bathroom but very cheap pillows were ultra uncomfortable even doubled up. felt like a bathtowel in a pillowcase. a/c unit hummed a bit loud but cooled nicely w/ digital temp adjustment. no frills okay place for one night stay.

I had a nonsmoking queen room. The room was roomy,clean and comfortable. Everything I needed - towels soap etc was there. For the price it was good.

This was a pleasant surprise for me. I felt the room was very adequate and actually exceeded many Super 8 locations. I would definitely stay here again!

We only needed a base for sleeping & bathing.

First of all Orbitz charged us $82 dollars MORE than what the hotel would have charged us had we booked with them directly. The hotel rooms appeared clean, but once you've taken your shoes and socks off you'll realize that the carpet probably hadn't been washed in a long while, because the bottoms of your feet turn black. The toilet, when flushed, would begin to refill the tank and the filler hose that goes in the filler tube shoots out and sprays water. The sheets and comforter had cigarette burns on them. This hotel also did not participate in the digital transition, so we were not able to view the news or any local channels. The shower looked as if it hadn't been scrubbed since the place opened. The shower curtain was not installed properly, so when you went to close the curtain, it would slide towards the middle where it drooped. There were stains on all the walls, and appeared as if it had never been washed down. One of the free wireless access points did not work at all, it was listed as an available network to connect to, but you couldn't connect! The A/C's cover had vents that were broken out and rattled constantly. Despite hanging the "Do Not Disturb" Sign, housekeeping entered anyway. The "Free Continental Breakfast" Included the SAME EXACT store bought stale donuts, warm milk, stale bagels, and stale english muffins. Overall, I would NOT recommend anyone to stay at this motel.
