Thanksgiving family getaway
We only stayed for one night, it was okay for the money. Very average, I would have stayed for a second night, the beds were not comfortable and the bathroom was extremely small.

Out on Business
Not too happy
I specifically chose this place over another because the list of amenities[...] claimed that it had a "business center". That is a complete lie. There is nothing of the sort. And NO apologies from the management either. If you need any of the amenities listed, you should call before you book with Red Roof Inn Merrillville. For instance, they also claim "microwave". Maybe there are microwaves in some of the rooms, but there wasn't in mine. I otherwise would have been happy with what I got for the price if I feel I wasn't completely lied to.

Everything was clean, well appointed, and at the price advertised. The staff accommodated my desire to be located near where I had to park my SUV and trailer. It was located near a variety of various levels of restaurants. It also had free WiFi. [...]

Good location, clean, and friendly
In our travels, this is a great family pick. The location was safe and on what seemed to be the nicer part of town. The value was great. The room was extra clean. Great experience all the way around! Thank you!!

Not Good - Avoid!!
Pay the extra money and find a better place. The room had a musty smell, but the worst was the noise. Trying to sleep in that room was like trying to sleep on the nearby freeway. The noise was extremely loud probably because the freeway is close. The door had a large gap around the opening. There was no covering up the noise even w/the fan only running on the air conditioning.

TECH ED
WATCH OUT !!!
CHECKED INTO THE FIRST ROOM LATE AND GOT INTO BED. REALIZED AFTER 10 MINUTES THAT THERE WERE BUGS IN BED. PULLED BACK SHEETS AND BED COVERED WITH BLACK BUGS. CALLED FRONT DESK AND WAS QUICKLY MOVED TO A NEW ROOM. I WILL NOT USE RED ROOF IN AGAIN. SECOND BAD EXPERIENCE WITH THIS CHAIN. [...]

Nice place to sleep for one night only
The staff was very friendly and made sure we had enough pillows and towels for our one night stay. It was worth the money we spent but if staying more than one night I would not suggest this hotel. The room was small and the beds were very small and slightly uncomfortable. There is a burn hole in our bedspread. The shower was pretty nice and it was an easy checkin and check out. The location was great right off the interstate and there was tons of places to eat and a huge shopping mall. Overall I would recommend this hotel.

Shopping tip:
Short drive from hotel
The Westfield mall has tons of great stores and lots of places to eat. We ate at the old country buffet across the road and it was a great price and had awesome service.
