Americas Best Value Inn

I enjoyed the stay at the hotel most definitely. However, I am a little upset with Orbitz how many people question when reserving a room. They do not specify the number of adults and kids. So I put 3 people ( 1 adult and 2 kids orginally). Orbitz charged me more money because they assumed the 3 people were 3 adults, and the hotel clerk informed me that they do not charge for children.

While visiting relatives, it was adequate accommodations, but overpriced for what we got...or rather, what we didn't get. The complimentary breakfast was coffee and some sort of orange juice drink substitute, and danish out of a package. And it only lasted 'til 9:00 am.

It took management a while to find my reservation. At first they claimed I did not have one. Later it was found by another member of staff. I was there for a family member's wedding. The rest of the trip was great.

The staff was friendly. The room was not impressive by no means. It was one of those, you get what you pay for types of deal. The room and bathroom were very beat up. The bed was extremely uncomfortable. Their were not any accessories other than 1 small bar of soap. This motel seems to be for the construction workers or contractors. We were there just to sleep so I guess it did its purpose, but the next time we go to Merriville I will definitly put out a little more money to stay at a nicer place.

The pool was nice except that it was always crowed with unsupervised kids. At one point I was the only adult in a pool with 10 kids in it. The prices that the hotel charged locally was MUCH less than I paid through Orbitz. About $30 per night more. SO I was expecting a MUCH different type of clientel than we experienced. Had I paid what the motel was asking locally I would have been more tolerent of things. At 40% more I was absolulutely NOT impressed. They were at least generous with their complimentary breakfast. The rooms were clean and they did fix a TV problem I had. Summary, I do not fault the motel. I am very unhappy with how much Orbitz marked up the room rate.

The staff was extremely nice and helpful. The hotel was a nice place to stay while enjoying watching softball games. The kids were able to relax in the clean pool after the games.

We come to town 2 times per year for an event. We are not looking for anything fancy or expensive to stay for one night and thats what we found here. The front desk clerk is awesome, she was really easy to talk to and was very helpful. The rooms, on the other hand, had been "updated" with paint and new border, but that was about it. The bathroom toilet rocked and almost fell over and the cobwebs in there, well, they were gone before I took a shower. Its that time of year, that was not a big deal, really. But the other 2 rooms our group had, were not as "nice" as ours was. As my husband put it, we only needed a bathroom with shower, locking door and a bed. Thats what we got. Just don't know if we will be back next year or not.

My husband and I were in town to attend a conference, so we didn't spend a lot of time at the hotel. I think it would have been better if the AC was in better working order we really cranked it down and it didn't seem to make a difference. It wasn't the best and it wasn't the worst.
