OK for the price, I guess

Unable to take a comfortable shower because the water would go from extremely hot to extremely cold while trying to shower. Sometimes the TV would work for a little while but other times it wouldn't

I thought we were in Sochi

We booked this room to attend a basketball tournament in Jasper. The hotel was close to the venues where our games would be played. That was the only good thing about the experience. We were there two days. The first night, one of the children staying in our room slept in his hoodie--hood up--all night. We called to ask for an extra blanket, as there were none in our room, only to be told there were none left. We left early in the morning for a full day of basketball. When we returned to our room, the heating/cooling system was blowing COLD air--even though it had been set on HIGH the entire day we had been gone. The pizza box we had from the night before was still by the trash. The only trash can in the entire room (in the bathroom) had not been emptied. Beds had not been made. no vacuuming had been done. Our wet towels from the night before were still piled on the bathroom floor where we left them that morning. Two clean towels had been thrown on the table in our room and that was it. Too bad their were four people in the room. We called about the coldness in the room (since an ice storm was predicted through the night and next morning), only to be told the boiler had gone out. We called about the cold air in our room for the last time at 4AM! The room never heated. We brought in all of the blankets we traveled with from our SUV and gave the thickest ones to the children. We might as well have been CAMPING! Each time we called about the heat, they said they had someone "working on it." The beds had two sheets and a blanket--no comforter. There were no extra blankets in the room. When I called to complain that the room had not been cleaned, I was told that "Often when people stay multiple days, they don't want their rooms cleaned." Everyone knows that if you don't want the room cleaned, you place the "Do Not Disturb" notice on the door. We did NOT do that. It was a miserable experience. I wasn't expecting 5 stars, but I was expecting CLEAN and HEATED. I don't think that I set the bar too high.

FAMILY OUTING

First room bed smelled like urine. Had to move to another room with 4 kids. Greg arrived next day. His room had mold on ceiling. Beds were awful.

not bad for the last minute

The place is old and smells as such. The beds weren't terrible or maybe they were this was a last minute descision for us. Holiday world was terrific and when we go again I can say for sure this will not be the hotel we stay in. The breakfast did include some hot foods but nothing to get excited about. But like I said it was a last minute thing so it wasn't terrible but the old funky smell I could have done without.

Not Worth The Money

We booked a weekend stay at this hotel for our family of four (husband and I and two small kids) to visit Holiday World. Our expectations for a hotel room of this rate are not particularly high. Whenever we travel, we spend very little time in the room, so we're looking for cleanliness and value. However, we've definitely stayed at better hotels for less money. The first issue we had was that we were in the "annex building." One of the big selling points to the hotel and our willingness to pay a little higher than other hotels we looked at for the weekend was that it has an indoor heated pool. However, not being in the main building made it not very convenient. The second issue is that this "annex" housed both smoking and non smoking rooms in the same hallway. As a result, the hallway smelled like smoke every time you walked in or out. In theory, there are security doors on the outside of the annex building requiring key entry. None of these are in working order, so anyone can walk right in. These are all issues with the hotel itself, but then, it's an older hotel. The issues with the room were numerous, however. The TV didn't work at all. It was about 69 degrees outside when we arrived, but easily 80 in the room as the air was off. Once the air was on, we determined the thermostat did not work. The only way to keep the room to about 72 was to actually set the air to 60. The air conditioner itself was very loud, making a loud banging noise every time it clicked on, and made it difficult for me to sleep. There was a refrigerator in the room, but it didn't work either. They must have known that because the thermostat was turned as low as possible, indicating they had just given up on it. The floors were actually carpet that looked like it hadn't been replaced in a very long time. Although the bathroom, beds, etc, appeared clean, the carpet was "sticky" in a lot of places and desperately in need of cleaning. We definitely were not pleased with this stay and will not stay here again. If you are a construction worker, or someone who just needs a bed for the night, I'm sure it's fine, but definitely not for anyone picky or with kids.

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

Everyone says they have "discount tickets" to Holiday World. However, we found that the "discount" just brings the ticket down to the same price you pay if you go online and buy them, and you don't have to buy anything else, or listen to a sales pitch to do this.

Reasonable

Like most that stay here in the summer is because they are going to Holiday World. The price is reasonable for a few nights stay. It was quiet and the staff was great. The continental breakfast could use more protein. Plus staying in Jasper was great because there are stores and restaurants close by.

good stop over

Stopped here after day at Holiday World, staff was very friendly, pool and hot tub were enjoyed by adults and children. Could have used some form of protein in the all carb continental breakfast and queen beds would have fit sleepers better than 2 full. Would come back again.

The rooms and overall appearance of the hotel was very nice. The only problem we had was the air conditioning wasn't keeping up with the outside temp of 106, and our room was pretty warm.

At least the roof didn't leak!

We were in Jasper to attend a family wedding. Directions to motel were not very good - had trouble finding the entrance to parking lot. Room was clean, with sufficient room. Soap, towels, etc were ok. Maid apparently came in on Saturday, but did not "fluff" up the bed - we had made it before we left. We were located on the interior, directly beside the pool. Kids yelled and screamed and lights shone in our window until about midnight. Choice of breakfast items was scant; nothing available on Sunday morning. No, we would not stay there again.

Nice location

We go to Holiday World/Splashin' Safari every year and we have stayed at this motel several times. The rooms are always very clean. We love the pool area and arcade. The kids really enjoy it. The mattresses in our room this year were a little worn; could have been more comfortable and queen sized instead of double sized. We usually have a refrigerator in our room but this time we didn't have one, but not a big deal. On our last stay there was a nice breakfast buffet in the hotel restaurant, a lot of hot food to choose from; we were disappointed this year to only have muffins, cereal, bagels, donuts. The only hot food offered was biscuits and gravy and they were not very hot. All in all though, a nice place to stay for a night or two.
