luv2ski Oct 31, 2009
I enjoyed the location, not right "in town", I liked that because I enjoy walking to relax. I could walk to many excellent ... restaurants in 15 plus minutes, the convention center in 30 minutes. If the weather was bad they provided excellent shuttle service anywhere in town. It was also close to the Canal area and in the university area. I would definitely stay there again I travel to Indianna. Very friendly staff, great breakfast at their own restaurant. I also feel great value for the $$.

Fabulous, comfortable for a good price
Hop Oct 27, 2009
This is a great hotel, particularly for the very reasonable price. Wonderful staff, and a nice 15 minute walk -- or a free ... shuttle ride -- to the middle of the city. Everything was perfect -- the room, the cleanliness, the people. I would stay there over a smack-in-the-middle-of-downtown hotel in an instant. My only complaint was that they were limited dining options on weekend. But it's an easy walk to more choices.

Comfortable room, great restaurant
HappyHoosier Oct 19, 2009
The room was very comfortable--we had two queen beds. The temperature was just right and there was a thermostat in the room, ... so it could be adjusted if needed. The room also included free high-speed internet. Underground parking was extra, but we could come and go as many times a day as we wanted. The hotel is located on the campus of IUPUI University, but is within a few blocks' walk of many local attractions--museums, baseball field, football stadium, etc. Conseco Fieldhouse, where the Pacers play is a bit farther away, maybe a mile. Lots of nice restaurants nearby. We ate several times at one of the hotel's restaurants, "The Den," and the food was terrific. Twice we asked to split a main course, and the waiter was fine with that. I'd highly recommend the carrot cake for dessert, but you might want to split that--the serving was enormous.
Traveler type: Family
The hotel isn't within the downtown cluster, but if you're interested in the NCAA museum, the State Museum, or the Eiteljorg Museum of Western Art, the White River Canal, the Indiana History Center, or the Indiana State Library, this is a great option.

Great Hotel at IUPUI campus
GolfUNC Oct 7, 2009
I was here for a Dental School Interview. It was a five minute walk to my interview and was very convenient to anywhere on ... the IUPUI campus. It was about a twenty minute walk to the heart of downtown. They also have a complimentary shuttle that will take you pretty much anywhere downtown. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were extremely nice. There is also a restaurant and bar downstairs that were nice and convenient.

I went to the Slippery Noodle Inn for dinner. It was a reasonably priced bar that plays blues music every night after 8 pm. It is the oldest bar in Indiana. I would recommend going here if you want a decent dinner and some entertainment.

Overall a wonderful experience. The front desk staff were extremely helpful. There had been a lot of conferences that day ... which made parking limited. The staff were very helpful in directing us to the closest lot and provided passes. They were also helpful in directing us to various locations downtown. The room was clean and comfortable. I normally wouldn't spend the 4-star for just a weekend trip but the deal I got from Orbitz made this hotel well worth it. I would recommend this location to anyone looking for a friendly place that is very close to downtown Indy.

Saved 28% over conference rate
Fund Raiser Sep 19, 2009
The shuttle was great and very responsive for our group of 15 that went out to dinner together. St. Elmo's had great steaks ... and halibut. It is within walking distance to the Canal and off campus eating locations. I parked in the garage ($14 a day) but can go and come at will. I had a room with two double beds. The first night, the bed was uncomfortable and moved to the other one and had very good nights for the rest of the conference.
Traveler type: Business
I wanted to stay at the same location as the conference, however the rate was more than I wanted to spend. Thinking as all do that the conference rate is better than their normal, I decided to check it out since I was booking outside of the "good rate" period. To my surprise I got the room for $99 rather than the $139 "deal". I shared with other conference goers as the conference is part of a series of classes. Regardless of who pays the bill, we all want to save money.

Parking garage is very nice but you must pay extra to use it. I was not aware of charge until I got there. They should put on ... website that their is an additional fee. They also advertised smoking rooms available, requested one, arrived there and hotel is smoke free. They advertise daily breakfast buffet, there was none. No microwave in room. There is no shuttle to Indianapolis Airport, but I took the complimentary hotel shuttle to one of the Green Line Airport Express bus stops downtown and for $7.00 was at the airport within about 20 minutes. The hotel valet recommended this in lieu of a $35 taxi.

Call the hotel ahead of time and ask them about alternate transportation to and from the airport. Cabs are very expensive... $40 from the airport which is only 8 miles away. There are several shuttle companies in the area as well as something called a share ride... Share a limo ride to the airport for $12.55 one way... can't beat it!
