I would have rather stayed at a Motel 6.

My husband and I have stayed at the Westin in the past for Colts games and weekends away. In the past we have found it most ... enjoyable. However, this experience was extremely disappointing. In walking in through the main enterance I experienced an awful smell of raw sewage. The rooms are in a dire need of updating. The bathroom had mold growing on the walls of the shower and the ceiling. The bath towel rack was rusted. We had one bath towel and a tub that didn't drain. When I finished up in the shower the water level was mid-calf. My husband also found a questionable substance on the night stand. I WILL NOT ever stay at the Westin again nor will I recommend it to my family or friends.

The Westin is the NCAA's favorite hotel for their meetings. I stay here relatively often. I take my own bath soap because ... the hotel soap has an intense floral smell that causes a sinus flare-up. There is always something in the room that requires an engineer's visit - for this trip 2 trips were required - 1 to program the tv remote with the tv (caused me to miss about 1/2 of an NFL game I wanted to see) and 1 to open the in-room safe so I could lock my valuables in the room. I was put on hold for more than 7 minutes to report the 2nd need for an engineer.

Check into the price of the parking for your stay. Parking in this hotel and every other hotel located close in this downtown area is not included. There is a separate parking price per day as long as you are in downtown Indy that is paid to the city. For me this was 25 dollars/day. If you are staying for a while, you may want to check into this before you book. NO ONE TELLS YOU THIS UNTIL AFTER YOU CHECK IN!

My Westin Experience
Dee Oct 19, 2009
The rooms were very clean. The beds allowed me to have a heavenly sleep with the down bedding and mattress. I would ... recommend this hotel for anyone. My only concern was that all of the amenities were not clearly conveyed with regards to what is included (TV Channels, personals, etc)and what is expected as far as price outside of the initial booking price.

Lack of extras really added up!
Nickled, Dimed and 10's of dollared Sep 21, 2009
The Weston was clean and comfortable. Staff helpful. Main issue was that nothing was included with the room price. Want to ... park your car while a guest at the hotel? That will be $28 per day, thank you! Want to get from the airport to the hotel? No problem! That will be $35 by cab, $25 by shared limo or if you are lucky and it is running, $7 by Green Line GoIndy bus. All prices are ONE WAY. As I was waiting for my shared limo, I watched many, many downtown hotel shuttles come and go from the airport, so Weston's competition is providing for their guests. Want a bottle of water in your hotel room? $3.50 please! And you may indeed want that bottle of water - the water coming out of the tap was foul the weekend I was there. Want to use the Hotel WIFI in your hotel room? $5.95 per day, thank you. If you want to save a little dough, the WIFI is free in the lobby. Want to get a turkey club sent to your room because you arrived after the hotel resturant closed at 10 pm? No problem, that will be $28, plus a $3.50 room delivery charge! All of this at a hotel where I spent just over $100/night for the room. My Advice: Before you book a room at a Weston Hotel, find out just how much it is REALLY going to cost you to stay there.

My experience
None Aug 31, 2009
Went to Moto GP at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the hotel was clean and rather upscale appearance and a friendly staff. ... The fridge in the room was set on sensors so if you picked up any of the rediculously overpriced items it would charge your room as in $3 bottle water and $8.50 bag of almonds! There was a flat screen tv in the room that was nice and the "heavenly" bed and bath were nice also. There was pretty much nothing there for free really like there was internet in the room but it was $10 for a day! McDonalds has free wifi but my $140 a night hotel charges? The staff was very friendly and prompt. I went with a group of couples so we had four rooms total and four custom motorcycles that we brought and the parking per bike was $28 a night per bike not space! No other decent parking choice was offered. They have complimentary Starbucks in the room to brew or in the lobby you can go downstairs and pay for it at a Starbucks.

Excellent Accommodations
Ms. Dee Jul 21, 2009
I thought the hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating, the event that we were there for was located adjacent to the ... hotel, and the mattress was exceptionally comfortable. The only thing that I had a problem with was the parking fees, for the three days that I was there I would have had to pay an extra $84.00 to park in the hotel's garage, I thought that was an unreasonable charge.

Good Location...Steep Parking
francescaoh Jul 15, 2009
Good location, like other downtown hotels. Can walk to everything, including Zoo, stadiums, mall, more. However, the ... parking was the most expensive we saw in the whole downtown ($25/day with no in/out), and the hallways were dirty, need painted, etc. Rooms fine, lobbies fine, but the corridors were kind of icky feeling. Also, the showers have NO non-skid coating on them -- extremely slippery. Our 5 year-old fell twice while just standing and trying to take a shower. Also, they charge $10/day for internet. Seriously, for the cost of the room, why aren't they up to par with free wireless? Would recommend downtown, but check out deals at other hotels first. Also, room service is very expensive -- walk outside and do something else. Nobody should pay $12 for a bowl of cereal!
Traveler type: Family
Everything is a short walk. Park, don't worry about driving anywhere. Zoo, stadiums, tons of food, nice mall, movie theater, huge park, IMAX, and so on. Nice downtown walking maps and great signage help out tourists a lot. Don't forget skywalks go everywhere so if weather is bad or you want to stay above the street, make good use of them!

Great location/rates, expensive parking
Wedding in the City May 8, 2009
We were in town for a wedding, and found that the Westin was cheaper than even the rate the wedding party was getting at the ... Hilton. Great location, great service. Only knock was that parking was expensive, and water was $5 a bottle. They also had the soda machines off, so you had to buy the $3 ones from the mini-bar. Not cool.

Walk down to the CVS on Illnois, past the Hilton. You can load up on snacks and water, so you don't end up spending $5 a pop at the hotel. Ridiculous!
