No continental breakfast & spotty WiFi.

Good place to lay your head, yet I found that a Hampton Inn provides better complementary amenities for less per night.

Location vs New

The downtown location was amazing and walking distance to just about everything we wanted to do. If you're looking for a new and more updated room, you may want to go elsewhere.

Our windows were level with a roof and over looked a back alley. The room was a bit small and needed updating. Moreover, the AC broke in the middle of the night and the windows didn't open. On a plus note, you can't beat the location.

Not as classy as expected

Having lived in central Indiana for 40 years, I had always heard about the elite Canterbury Hotel, Indianapolis's finest. Movie stars, important politicians, music stars stayed there. I was really looking forward to enjoying luxury and glamor. The lobby and restaurant have plenty of luxury and glamor. But our room, not so much. It was the smallest hotel room in which we had ever stayed. Beautiful pieces of dark wooden furniture but the desk was so close to the bed that we could barely sit in the desk chair. There was no in room coffee maker, but coffee was served in the lobby in the morning only. Plastic cups in the room, not glasses. Linens on the bed seemed worn out, not crisp and white. Most distressing, some of the pillows smelled like sweaty heads. We did have a good rate on the room, but honestly, I've stayed in Holiday Inns with better rooms and linens.
