Indy Disappointment
Indy Couple Nov 1, 2009
Staff was arrogant and not very happy to have guests. They placed us in the wrong room and in place of sending someone to ... help move us, they handed us the key to the correct room in the hallway and just walked away without a word. The smell of disinfectant was overwelming throughout the building. We are fairly easy going but this was not a good option and it is too bad that it was our wedding night.

all of the stores were close by . I picked up a few things at bath and body works and some boots from the coach store in the mall above the hotel.

From Italian to Chinese to American steaks, it's all within a block or two. Five star restaurants to a burger at 2:00 AM. Walking around in Indy at night is a gas. Everyone is friendly and there is protection just in case, everywhere. It's like Chicago, a hundred years ago. Go and enjoy and have fun without worries, mate!

American Farmer Degree
FFA Mom Oct 26, 2009
We were in Indianapolis for the FFA Annual National Convention for our children to receive their American Farmer Degree. We ... arrived late in the evening (11pm) and were greeted with a friendly staff. The hotel is beautifully decorated in the 1800's style and was very clean. It is centrally located right in downtown and we were able to walk everywhere we needed. Lots of restaurants, the theater, shopping mall, the convention center, etc. The breakfast buffet that is served in the morning is very tasty. Overall it was a very nice experience. The only thing that would have been nice would be to have a swimming pool or hot tub.

This was a great experience, for me however it was a business trip and I got a lot done. I wish the stay was longer I would ... like to visit again if I could get a lower air/hotel rates . or another package in another nice hotel in another state like Hilton Head South Carolina resort for the holidays.

conference
writer Oct 19, 2009
My room wasn't ready for an early check in as promised, and when I received the key, the room had not yet been cleaned. I ... had to move rooms late in the evening after my conference. Hotel did not upgrade my room or offer me any consideration for this. The hot buffet is mediocre at best and does not vary from day to day. Ceramic coffee cups require a special request, and there is no food service in the hotel from 10am to 3pm.

Nice rooms....Bad service
dissapointed Sep 18, 2009
This hotel is very conveniently located in downtown. We saw a concert at the Conseco Fieldhouse. All through the night we ... heard the elevator going up and down. Around ten the next morning, all we could hear were the room maids clanking and opening and closing doors. I had spoken with the staff to ask about additional features added to our stay such as the massage package and found the staff to be quite short and disconcerned. At check in and check out the woman working the counter was very short and we kind of felt like a burden rather than a guest. We would not stay again.

Real Class with a lot of Ambiance
BOBBY BLUE Sep 8, 2009
Every bit as good as some other four and five star hotels in the area. For other naysayers, this is a great place to stay! ... Rooms were not as small as others have indicated. Very clean; VERY quiet; staff was excellent at every request. We slept late, and weren't bothered or awakened.Showers were great; towels were up to expectations; all amenities were first class. The air conditioning was by far the best in 20 years-- we could have made it go to 60* F if needed, and it was quiet as a mouse! Beds and bed clothes were great. Rather than stay at another 5 star that we have stayed at for years, we're coming back to the Canterbury.

Mother of the Groom Sep 7, 2009
Explicit instructions were left to make the bride and groom's stay more pleasant and fun, but this supposed upscale hotel ... lost those instructions, making the newlyweds uncomfortable and disappointed. However, my credit card was charged regardless. I feel for those coming to Indy in 2012 for the Super Bowl... expect the best hotels to be mediocre, and it goes downhill from there.

The Canterbury Hotel
millersta Aug 31, 2009
We decided to take a mini vacation and spend 2 days and 1 night in Indianapolis. The hotel staff was great and very polite. ... The Canterbury's location was perfect: connected to the Circle Mall, next door to the famous St. Elmo's Steakhouse, right near the Colts' Stadium, basically walking distance within all city attractions. The hotel specializes in European traditions. Unfortunately we missed the tea time from 4-5:30pm and did not receive the nightly turn down service with chocolate truffle left on your pillow - not sure why/how we missed the turn down! We would highly recommend this hotel if needing a quiet, mini-getaway.

If only they had an airport shuttle!
Oniwasabi! Aug 20, 2009
Stayed at this hotel for Gen Con in Indianapolis, so 5 nights one of the busiest times of the year. The hotel was clean, the ... AC kept the building comfortable the entire time (even with 90 degrees outside) the Queen Size bed in my room was larger than any King Size bed I've ever slept in before, and the complimentary continental breakfast included hot eggs, sausage, and potatoes along with the traditional fruits and muffins. If this hotel had an airport shuttle it would be absolutely perfect!
Traveler type: Friends
Literally connected to the Circle Center mall. Any shopping or dining needs are available within 1 block. Unless you need one to go to whatever you're doing in Indy I strongly recommend skipping a rental car here.

Refreshed Sisters Aug 11, 2009
My sister and I enjoyed our stay while visiting Indianapolis for the Women of Faith conference at Conseco Fieldhouse. We had ... the car parked at the beginning of the stay and did not have a use for it until we left - everything was within walking distance. Very comfortable bed and room - never heard anyone else during our stay. We needed minor repair on the toilet but it was taken care of as soon as we notified the hotel of the problem.

Knowing nothing about the hotel going in other than that is was right downtown where we wanted to be, we were happily ... surprised by all that it was! The rooms were smaller, but very well done. Unbelievable quiet even though they were completely full during our stay. Wonderful breakfast buffet each morning. Staff was polite and very attentive. Would absolutely stay again the next time we're in Indy!

--Richard, USA Aug 31, 2008
Being able to get into the shopping mall without going outside was a nice plus. Because of the food court in the mall, there was a good variety of food to select from. And also all the shops in the mall were good for any shopper maniacs.
