Canterbury Review

Although historic and in the heart of downtown the hotel itself could use some updates and possibly some reconditioning. The staff was great, the room was clean and comfy, but the you can certainly tell this is an older hotel.

Less than expected

Location was good. Parking too expensive. $25/day plus expected tips each time the keys changed hands. First room was too small, but the bathroom left much to be desired. Fixtures were from the 70's and damaged. We complained and were moved to a room a bit larger with the same fixtures, but no damage and better arrangement. Shower curtain very clingy (hate that!). Room very clean, but too close to the loud bell on elevators. Name & history not worth the money. Will not go back.

Nice

We didn't have the best view, but, hey...for being right downtown? Couldn't complain one bit. Walked to museums, ballpark, etc. in minutes. Nice staff, comfortable room, great HDTV to kick back and unwind.

Back in the Day

Back in the day, this hotel was special. Now it seems old and tired. My room and bathroom were both small. One of the lamps was unplugged and it looked like it had been a while since the room had been refurbished. There was free wifi but inadequate work space.

Cantebury Experience

The staff was friendly, and helpful. The location of the Cantebury is excellent, right on Illinois St , connected to the City Center Mall; and within walking distance to all the restaurants, bars, Conseco Fieldhouse, etc. I really liked the historic feel of the hotel; my only suggestion would be replacing the beds. I'll definitely be staying at this hotel again in the very near future. Thanks to all the staff at the Cantebury for the great experience.
