not bad…

Building is in need of lots of repair, had no amenities , no coffee, no pool, and a foul odor! But the price was right

Best Value, not best condition

This hotel is under renovation, the elevator has not been inspected as required by law, the room was clean, but it had been recently worked on and there was drywall dust on nearly every surface of the bathroom. The picture posted for this listing is not up to date. I was disappointed with this trip, I have stayed at other motels in this chain that were better maintained.

Old and not taken care of

It was a long night between the thin walls and the water leaking from the ceiling

Convenient for Last Minute

This hotel is aged, but kept clean enough. I decided at about 10pm I wanted a hotel room for the night so I could go out to the IU bars with friends, and we got a room for cheap. It serves its purpose.

Good for what we needed

This was a hotel that was good for what we needed - a cheap room for homecoming. While we, my husband and I, wished it were closer to the campus (we had a long walk back to the room), it was a clean room, with a TV, microwave and mini fridge, though it did seem quite old and dingy. The staff was wonderful - helpful, pleasant, and efficient. Note you can't rent movies and there are limited channels, though that wasn't really why we got the room. My biggest issue was probably the thinness of the walls. We woke up several times throughout the night to what seemed like someone speaking right out side our room (literally, outside, and we were on the 4th floor). I thought several times that someone knocked on our door, but it was neighboring rooms. If you are looking for a good night's sleep, this would not be my first choice. However, we were very grateful for the excellent staff and cheap room to enjoy a night back in our favorite place with all our friends.

had an awesome stay

The outside was a little shabby, but the staff was very pleasant and the room was clean and comfortable. Free wifi and breakfast, interior looks recently updated, will definitely stay again.

Remodeling

Good location New carpets. Beds on thrid floor comfortable, room clean bathtub yukky. Second floor smoking room was just that (we had 2 rooms) a smoking room needed more work. We all slept on 3rd floor in the 2 queen size beds.It should get better

They're trying, but need to try harder

I read the other reviews before booking, but didn't have other options. They seem to be trying to improve this place (my room seemed to have been recently painted, and I saw painting at work in the lobby). Still, when I arrived I was first given a room that did not match what I booked (smoking room, wrong beds). They tried to move me into a room that had broken AC, and I said no. Finally got the correct room, and it was fine. Not good, not overly comfortable, but seemed to be as clean as could be expected given the earlier reviews. Television barely worked, and the wireless went in and out during my stay. The morning I was checking out the staff let themselves into my room without knocking at 8:30AM (check-out time was 11). I booked this trip at the last minute and had no other options. In the future I would make every effort to stay elsewhere, and would be willing to spend more money to avoid this hotel.

only if you're desperate

Dad visiting his IU son for a weekend, none of my usual hotels were available, so... the positives - the bed was fine, the water was hot, the a/c and elevator worked just fine. negatives - gum in carpet, dirty/rusty bathroom, fridge didn't work, missing lightbulbs - and the entrance seemed like a 3rd-world, cement-block hallway. Only stay here if there's nothing else nearby - but I would stay here again if the only other option was 20miles away.

Worst hotel experience ever

Called ahead two days to confirm double beds instead of one queen-size (original reservation made 3 months prior was for double beds, we had three people to the room). Upon arrival, rude Indian manager says it's for single queen. Then he throws a fit and berates me for insisting on two double beds, literally insulting me, poking me in the chest and saying he refuses to talk to me because, "I don't understand his job." He repeatedly threatened to cancel my reservation, saying it's "hotel owner's right." I was being incredibly polite -- almost to the point of ridiculousness, since I didn't want the reservation canceled (we'd just driven for 9 hours to get there). It was actually only after I got angry and raised my voice to him that he relented and suddenly found a room with two double beds, but kept telling me about all the trouble I was causing (by expecting my pre-paid reservation to be honored). And all week whenever he saw me he would yell "Hey buddy!" and berate me some more, telling me about other guests he tried to screw over who were apparently more than happy to sleep on a bedspread on the floor (that's literally what he told me). It was so insane I can barely believe it happened. On top of all this the place is a smelly dump. Stains, falling apart, water damage everywhere, dirty and dingy. The a/c unit emitted an acrid burning smell every time it kicked on. I'll be writing letters to Country Hearth and the BBB.
