Better than expected

The room and lobby were updated so don't go by the pictures. Better than I expected but not worth the $189.00 a night for graduation weekend! Decent continental breakfast.

Not as advertised - bad experience

This is advertised as a new hotel. It is not. Needs a lot of work. Our room was adequate for one night but I will never go back there. Even the peephole had been removed and replaced with a wad of tissue paper. The clerk did not have our reservation even though confirmed by Orbitz. When we gave him a copy of the confirmation, he said he did not know Orbitz. His english was awful and almost non-comprehensible. At check out he tried to make me pay ten doallrs more than I was quoted and told me that he was not responsible and if I did not like it I could call the state department that "said he had to charge me the upcharge". I asked him to call Orbitz and he told me "no". I asked him to look up the Orbitz customer service number on his computer and either he refused or he did not know how to "Google" (I could not comprehend). I refused the bill and he did not care as he was charging my credit card anyhow. This was an awful experience but it was the only hotel with availability because of the Illinois football weekend.

Just what I wanted.

Clean, quiet, exectly the things I wanted (bed, TV, hot water, coffee in the lobby, wireless Internet), and didn't pay for anything I didn't care about (10-story atrium lobby, restaurant, bar, etc.). Excellent value for money, and really important: I was able to stay one night, didn't have to take the whole weekend (as some others demand on busy campus weekends). Will stay again, recommend to friends.

late night game stay

I was impressed with the comfort of the bed.The staff was friendly considering it was a late check in. The down side the room might need to be updated sometime, but overall we were happy. We will stay there again on a late game day. The price was normal

Last minute decision

Available for last minute reservations, clean and convenient. One complaint, go EARLY for breakfast they are not very good at re-stocking and they pack things up earlier than posted.

Mom's Weekend

The room was clean but needed some repairs. The window screens were ripped on two sides so we could not open them without bugs flying in. The wallpaper was buckled in the corners and would rip easily if touched. I was not happy with the breakfast provided. You had a choice of cereal or donuts. The coffee was very weak and the powder cream was so lumpy it would not desolve at all. There were only two hangers in a room that sleeps four. When asked for more, they said no.

Great Hotel and close to the college

We went to U of I Homecoming, tailgating, dinner and partying. Great fun!!! Room and hotel lobby were inviting. I have been to other Super 8's but this being new was very nice and clean. Good mattresses always help.

Bed bugs

I had come to Champaign to see my alma mater play a football game. I checked into my room, and immediately I noticed long dark hair on the pillows. I asked for another pillow and in the mean time looked around the room. I notced amber to brown colored bugs the size of an apple seed on the wooden night stands and crawling on the outside of the hide-a-bed couch cushions. I asked the front desk manager to come identify the bugs, and he said they were bed bugs. He also admitted the property had a previous infestation, but he told me that had "been a while ago." I immediately left the hotel, and they issued a refund. I had to find another hotel at 11pm, which on short notice cost quite a bit more. But the extra cost was far less than the expense of taking bed bugs home. When I arrived home the next day I had to spray down (using rubbing alcohol) my clothes and luggage to keep anything from affecting my home.
