Doubletree Hotel Chicago - Oak Brook

I am very familiar with Doubletree at Oak Brook. the surprise was they gave me a "special needs" room without warning me. me and my wife are tall and the whole room was obviously adjusted for different needs. they should have warned me before so i could , at least, change the room before check-in

Room was nice and clean. There seemed to be a draft coming from the frames of the windows making it uncomfortable to sit by the window.

One of the things I enjoy on a getaway is a hot tub, and I look for that in the hotel description. After booking a non-refundable hotel deal through a web service and arriving at the hotel, found the hot tub was under repair and out of commission through mid December. When I asked the hotel for some sort of compensation for the lack of it, they informed me that becasue I booked the hotel through a "third party", there was nothing they could do about the rate. More and more, I arriive at a hotel and find something under construction or out of commmission. it seems reasonable that hotels should post issues on their website so that consumers can make choices about where to stay. Other hotel amenities were fine and the staff was friendly and helpful.

I played two golf courses in Oak Brook and Napierville, Illinois. Double Tree hotel seves as my home during the trip.

We had a good experience. Warm cookies didn't come until next morning. Upon having breakfast next morning, realized the front desk didn't give us our free breakfast cards, the lady in the restaurant was nice enough to let us eat breakfast first, then return with the cards after eating. Also the front desk neglected to tell us about the 30.00 hold the hotel puts on your card for almost one week for incidentals after you check out of the hotel. We found out the hard way later on that day after check out.

room was not ready until 1 1/2 after check in time, which made me late for cubs game. had to take a 55$ taxi instead of train b/c of. Waiter in restaurant couldn't understand much english & didn't know how to work computer system. manager should have been in there helping b/c too busy for a conference to only have 2 people when we had 1 hr for lunch break. atm broke. rooms weren't cleaned until 2 or later everyday. never been in hotel that doesn't have free fruit-had to pay for at gift shop which was outrageous. room next to me was noisy and air stopped working in middle of night.

I booked a mid-range room with a balcony. When I arrived the clerk confirmed the arrangement. However the room had no balcony. A different clerk insisted that I was not paying the differential between a regular room and a room with a balcony. I tried explaining that a regular room was priced at $87.00, balcony rooms for $131.00. I had paid $131.00. I got nowhere and chose not to continue the 'discussion' as I found myself becoming more than a bit annoyed by her insistent repetition of the same non-facts. Also, when I arrived, a maid was in the room. The lights were out and the TV going. The woman was standing at the foot of the bed. Giving benefit of the doubt, I assumed she was finishing up cleaning tasks. When she left, I noticed the wrinkles that indicated someone had been on the bed. I would not recommend this hotel.

Rooms are clean and comfortable. The hotel staff is friendly and the location is great!
