TownePlace Suites by Marriott Chicago- Lombard

I had a good stay at this hotel. I really liked the kitchenette with a refrigerator. It let me store some food that I normally would have had to throw away.

One of the things that made my first visit to Chicago comfortable was my stay in TownPlace Suites. Not only was the place clean, the staff very friendly and helpful but its location afforded easy access to daily food supplies including those extra shopping convenience. I will definitely stay there again.

The hotel was very nice. The staff were friendly and helpful.I only wished it had been made more clear that a two bedroom suite for six people had only one bathroom. We managed fine with two children and four adults, but another bathroom would have been useful.

I was greeted at the front desk by two smiling, very welcoming workers even though I arrived well after 9 PM, which is a nice change from the norm. The room was very clean and spacious with an over-sized computer desk complete with a rolling table, which came in handy as I wanted to catch up on a few shows on hulu. The bathroom was very clean and was surprisingly large, especially considering the size of the rest of the room. The kitchen was small, but it had everything needed to make a meal for a single traveler or a family of four. It included a full-sized fridge, dishwasher (detergent under the sink), small stove, and I believe it had place setting for four. The continental breakfast was one of the best free hotel breakfasts I've seen. My only complaint (if I have to come up with one) is that the internet service isn't wireless. The town of Downers Grove (about 2 miles away) had everything a traveler/tourist would need, including some great pizza places and a wonderful cigar shop with a smoking lounge. This came in handy since there's a smoking ban in Illinois. The train ride into Chicago was about 45 minutes, and parking in the garage (about 3 blocks from the station) was only $3 for the entire day.

The room was large & comfortable. The kitchen was small but well equipped. My only complaint (an admitted "nit") was that when I returned to my room on the second night, I couldn't find the coffee pot. I called the front desk & the receptionist wasn't very helpful. I phoned the next morning (badly in need of my coffee!!) & the receptionist suggested that I look in the dishwasher because sometimes the housekeeping staff forgot to take things out. Why didn't the night person suggest that??? I would think it's a FAQ!

Loved the desk chair, free internet, friendly staff good lighting at bed and desk. OK kitchen. Bad furniture (old TV, no DVD player, ratty bedboard under mattress, no table to eat on although rooms have kitchens) which makes a difference if you stay for a week. Room not as clean as it should be.
