Miserable experience!

The front-desk girl on duty when we arrived was very pleasant and friendly, but said since we booked through an online travel site, we were given a handicapped room. I asked what the difference between that and other rooms was and she just said "it's a bit bigger". When we got to our room, it was immediately behind the front desk (on the other side of the wall), directly across from the elevators, the pool entrance AND next to the ice machine/vending machine area, so it was a TERRIBLE location. I'm a light sleeper and we had our 5-year-old who is as well, but I thought it was only for one night, so why not give it a fair shake. The room smelled dusty and the air was stale and the bedspread had grass all over one side of it and I still haven't figured out how that would have gotten there. Still, I didn't ask to change rooms, even though I should have. All night, you could hear the constant "Ding" of the elevator and at 2am, there were about 4 people right outside the pool entrance (Straight across from our room), screaming at each other. It went on for about 5 minutes, so I opened my door and asked them to please hold it down or take it to another area as there were people trying to sleep (keep in mind, the pool is supposed to close at midnight and these people were still in there at 2am and no one had said anything to them, EVEN THOUGH the front desk was less than 10 feet away from the pool entrance, so there's NO WAY they didn't know people were in that pool after-hours). They still didn't quite down so I want out again and asked them to please be more considerate. By the third time and about 15 minutes in, I marched outside and screamed at them to shut up and I had my husband call the front-desk. The front-desk was completely unresponsive and finally after about 15 minutes more, they left. I should also mention that our room was on the ground floor and there are no window locks, even though the windows open. When my husband found this shortly after we checked in, he went back to the front-desk to say he was concerned that the windows could open and there were no locks on ours, which means people could get in since we are on the ground floor. The clerk replied "none of our windows have locks sir". Classy. SO then the next morning when we went to go take a shower, we figured out the shower head was also for handicapped individuals since it was a removable shower head you can move around. Nice for those who need it, however, there was no "holder" to place the shower head in. Instead, someone from the hotel and just somehow rigged the shower head to stay up-right by tying it to the place it comes out of the wall with a small yellow string and it wouldn't stay in it's place even with that once the water turned on............it was terribly aggravating! The ONLY decent thing about this hotel was the breakfast. When we went to check out, no one was there to help us either and finally what we think is one of the book keepers came out of the back and asked if she could help us and not once asked us how our stay was because I was about to unload all my complaints on them, but they never bothered to ask. DO NOT STAY HERE! There is a very decent Holiday Inn Express and Fairfield Inn right next to this hotel, that I HAVE TO BELIEVE WOULD BE 1000 TIMES BETTER THAN THIS PLACE!

Not so good

It didn't give a good first impression that the rather scraggly-looking young guy staffing the front desk had "ultimate fighting" on the lobby TV when we walked into the hotel. The lobby/breakfast room was fairly cramped, and at 10 at night had people just hanging around. Nor did it help that as we walked to our room and past the pool, a hotel guest was in there calling out to the desk attendant that he wanted the police, when they arrived, to come directly to the pool area. The room was fine - clean enough, etc. But we took care to lock the door. In the morning, the breakfast was at best, ordinary. We were glad to leave.
