hotel snobs will give this one a two thumbs up!

After a long day driving, the support staff at The Herrington Inn and Spa were superlative. They helped unload our stuff, got us to our room, suggested restaurants and offered to drive us there and pick us up after dinner. We had cookies and cold milk each evening and fresh breakfast each morning on our veranda overlooking the river. Can't say enough good things...happy

The staff have excellent restaurant picks. Trust them! And being able to eat and call for a car means that extra glass of wine is not out of the question.

Geneva at Its Best

What a terrific find. I know this is not a new hotel, but it's our first time there. We wanted to stay overnight in town and this inn was highly recommended. The room was very nice and spacious, with a balcony(although its a bit cold to use now), a fireplace, large bath, huge shower and a very, very comfortable king bed. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, from the front desk that upgraded our room when we arrived, to the bar to the restaurant, which was excellent - my wife loved the elk and the duck was perfectly cooked with a nice sized portion. If you want to get out of Chicago, into a lovely town not too far away, this would be a perfect place to stay for the weekend.

Excellent Luxury Boutique Hotel on the Waterfront

We were completely pampered from start to finish. The quality craftsmanship that went into our room was appreciated by both of us - the bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in. The cookies and milk before bed saw to that!! The beautiful views, whirlpool bathtub, and again the cookies were my favorite. Staff very professional and friendly. Perfect staycation!

Great Weekend Get-A-Way

The Herrington is lovely hotel with friendly and great staff. We will definitely stay there again, but will not eat in their restaurant. It is fine dining with a "hit or miss" option when it comes to the food, but with a lovely view. We had a miss with our entire meal the night we were there. But that's okay, because there are lots of restaurants to choose from and within walking distance. However, the Cookies and milk that was delivered each night was a wonderful welcome! Located right on the Fox River, even from the Second Floor where our room was, the view was great! Even saw fireworks in the sky from the Baseball Game that was a few miles away. Rented bikes at Mill Race Cyclery (Located just across the bridge from the hotel, on the other side of street-VERY short walk), but get there when they open to get choice bike rental options (they don't take reservations). There is a gorgeous bike path along both sides of the Fox River that goes for miles and miles. Easy, well maintained trail through a preserve and towns. Will definitely do that again as well. We also like to geo-cache and found a few of those along the way and within Geneva. There are blocks of shopping on State Street & Third Street. Unique shops of all types, some in old business buildings, some homes that have been turned into a store. This was our first time in Geneva and will return now that we are empty nesters. Just a relaxing, historic, hip, quaint little town.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Fox Fire Restaurant is on State Street just 1 block (if that) from the hotel. Had a wonderful and VERY delicious dinner there. Great Prime Rib & steaks. There are also several restaurants of various pricing and atmosphere on State Street & Third Street (historic area). Micro brews, pubs, Mexican, Unique, Tapas, dessert only, etc etc etc! You will not starve in Geneva, IL.

Life Can Be So Sweet

What can you say about perfection....? The Herrington Inn is nestled in one of the sweetest areas in the midwest, Geneva, Illinois. The town is small and quaint, filled with shops that have delights to fill every need-antique stores, home good/designer stores, and "girlie" shops galore. In the midst of this is The Herrington Inn, facing the Fox River, and built like a French Chateau. Each room has a fireplace, and views of the river, beds so soft and comfy, and rooms so beautiful, you hate to leave. The staff is attentive to your every need, happy to assist you in any way. You sit on your deck in the evening, looking at egrets and geese, only to find warm cookies and milk waiting for you when you re-enter your room. It's perfect for a romantic getaway, or for a girlfriend get away. Would I recommend it?? Yes, Yes, Yes...it's a dream come true

Super nice room and amenities

My husband had to be in the Geneva area for a meeting and had always raved about this hotel. I went this time and only wish we could have stayed longer. Fabulous whirlpool tub and huge bed. Plus milk and cookies for us at night!

Harrington Inn

Overall the experience was excellent. The staff was polite, and professional. We will go back again. There was a problem with the whirpool tub, and the phone in the room did not work. If not for those items, I would have rated it 5 stars.

Great Romantic getaway

Room was very quiet (no outside noise). Setting (on Fox River) beautiful. Visiting the quaint shops of Geneva was enjoyable. Was able to walk everywhere. Spa on site was very enjoyable with a great staff.
