Days Inn Effingham

Just spending the night on our way from TN to WI. Hotel was easy to find, comfortable, clean and offered a nice breakfast.

Multiple buildings that are not connected. The hotel was older. It looked like they had done some cosmetic renovation but had missed the major problems. It was clean but had an unusual spell. There were holes in the sheetrock behind the bed and bedside table (found these when searching for an electrical outlet that was not in use). The ceiling tiles had been wet and were discolored and several were sagging. They did have a microwave and frig but these took up all the outlets in the room. The tv was not even plugged in to an outlet. If I had been able to get my money back easily, I would not have stayed.

This place is ok for 1 night. It's what I would describe as pretty much a dump. It should be listed as a 1 star location. I checked in and they sent me to a building that was dark and just had a bad feel to it. I requested a new room and they were accomodating. Next time I'm in town, I will definitely spend an extra $20.00 for a better hotel. The location is good.

We attended the IHSA state track meet in Charleston, IL. The room we were placed in was in a separate building that was old and in need of repair. There was hair on the floor in the bathroom from the previous clients, stains on the chairs, un-vacuumed floors, and a general uncleanness about the room. Since we were placed in the separate building, we had to walk across the parking lot to have access to the fitness room, sauna, breakfast area, and front desk. Our building didn't have a vending machine, just an old unclean looking ice machine!! I will never stay here again! I trusted this hotel because it was part of the Choice Hotel chain, but NEVER AGAIN. I even had to stand and wait for about 15 minutes to check in due to the front desk clerk being nowhere in sight!!

This motel was clean, fresh-smelling. The lady ([...]) who checked us in was professional and friendly. The microwave and two lights did not work. But other-wise, we were pleasantly surprised. Good complimentary breakfast (including Belgium waffles.) Would definitely stay here again if in Effingham. Also close to restaurants and stores.

We had a decent experience. I thought there was a funny smell in the room but no one else seemed to notice. I would stay again. Near the interstate. Don't rely on GPS to get you there unless you type the address in manually.

[...]Our stay was only overnight and it met our needs. Check-in went fast and friendly. Hotel is/was dated, but our room was clean and fresh. Hallways are a little dirty, but nothing that couldn't be over looked. Again, this is a Days Inn and it's mainly a "motel". Free serve-yourself breakfast was fair. Would recommend for a short overnight stary while traveling in the area.

Very polite staff, spotless room. The breakfast room was poorly laid out and difficult to get around in. The breakfast selections included nothing but simple carbohydrates. Some whole grains would have been very welcome, as well as "fresh fruit" than went beyond waxy apples.

Very nice hotel. Will definitely stay there again.
