Decatur Conference Center and Hotel

I am not a hotel owner, but I'm sure there's some financial reason behind why every hotel like this has wall AC units instead of central heating and cooling, therefore basically guaranteeing that the room smells strongly of mildew. Also, the bed was incredibly uncomfortable. The mattress was hard, which can be fine, but it was also clear that it was cheap and hard which is not a good mix. It really is a shame the quality of the room was not better because the public areas of the hotel are lovely and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were nice size and clean. The Sports Bar had excellent service and the food was good.

A very good value for the price. It is not a new hotel, but it is quite spacious due to it being a conference center. The double queen room I had was comfortable and spacious. There's a nice bar/grill and staff was very nice. I ended up at the hotel because all the chains were full. I will come back.

The hotel is very noisy. We had especially loud neighbors the first night (pounding on doors, yelling and swearing the halls, etc. -- all at 1 am), which was particularly inconvenient when traveling with 2 small children. This makes me wonder about the typical caliber of the clientele. Also, the shower/bathtub water pressure was non-existent. It took about 20 min to fill the tub enough to give a 1 year-old a bath. On the plus side, the hotel was quite clean and the staff were very friendly. I list this hotel as "recommended" because I'm unfamiliar with the Decatur area and don't know if there's anything better around.

When I left the room in the morning, the housekeeper asked if I needed anything. I said, no. Upon my return that night, I found she had not come into the room, no cleanup in the bathroom, didn't make the bed, nothing.

the hotel is in need of some TLC. Nothing too terrible, a tile here, a curtain there, some better sheets would be a nice touch. The first night we stayed, a Saturday, the place was fairly busy but noisy and with lots of kids running around and the pool was deafingly loud! I could hear the noise clearly in my 2nd floor hallway! The rest of the time we seemed to be only one of maybe 10 rooms that were full. The hotel is beautiful and has potential, unfortunately it is located in an economicaly struggling area and it shows.

We checked in at 3 pm and the room smelled musty- like some kid had gotten out of the pool and dove into the bed. I called and asked the front desk if the bed was a queen bed which it was suppose to be so they sent a maintence man down there. He said it was a queen bed so apparantly hotel queens and real queens are different because this was a full bed. They were nice and very polite about it. Our room was located in the bottom level and didn't have nice hallways. The other hallways were well lite and better maintained.

Location is west of town but convenient enough for Millikin University. It has all the amenities of a conference center, rooms are decent, staff friendly.

My experience was a wonderful one. Rooms were always clean. The staf was excelent, and the hotel was magnificent!

Easy check in and check out. Good amentities in the room, free wi-fi, refrig, clock radio, iron, daily news paper, etc. Worked most of the time so didn't get to spend much time at the pool or fitness. They are doing extensive re-modeling and it wasn't too noticeable but when complete this will be a fantastic facility.
