The Super 8 Danville was a good value for the money. The mattress was soft, and it seemed like we fell into the center of the bed and it was hard to get out of it, but I didn't experience any back pain, which could happen with a soft mattress. The
breakfast choices were two regular cereals plus oatmeal. They had little cinnamon rolls, bread, ready made waffles (all could be toasted). They had coffee, tea, only 2% milk, orange or apple juice that only approximated the real thing. The only fresh fruit was apples. The lock on our room was quirky, and one day we came back and our room had not been cleaned because the housekeeper thought it was locked from the inside. The room was good sized, had good TV and 2 chairs. The day the room was cleaned they did a good job. I guess that most of the people who stay there are truckers and people on short-term work assignments.
It was a great stay, the bed was comfortable and staff was friendly. The only complaint was the room had a smoke stench to it and yes I did request a smoking room but it would help to have some air freshner or popurri
Hotel features (5 = best, 1 = worst):
Short walk from hotel
Old boy restaurant was near by within walking distance
The staff seemed a bit out of sorts. While I understand that a Super 8 is not the Waldorf, the facility and the room did not appear clean or tended to. Even with my television on, I heard every interaction that passed my door in the hallway. Then,
my neighbor turned his television on at 4:30am. Early breakfast anyone?
The front desk was very helpful. She went beyond her duties to help us with our room. It was close to a good restaurant. The room clean and inviting. I will be staying there again and would recommend them to anyone.
The staff at the hotel were rude when I arrived stating they had a full house the previous night.
When I got to the room I was surprised to see all windows opened, which I was glad because the room smelled stale, especially being on the second
floor. When you looked out the window the gutter was falling off the building. It was windy there so the gutter knocked all night.
Later that evening I noticed the bathroom ceiling light fixture was not connected exposing bare wires.
This hotel is in need of some repairs.
