Incredible birthday weekend

From the moment I arrived till the moment I left the staff was wonderful. The room was incredible as well as the whole hotel. I could not have asked for a better location. I walked to Water Tower Place and spent the day. This was by far the best hotel I have stayed in. I will definitely go back. I enjoyed the happy hour which included dollar oysters.

Not my style

I booked this hotel at a below market rate deal, so I have no complaints on what I got for the price, but I tried to review it based on what my attitude would have been if I paid market. The room was dark, lighting seemed to be designed for a romatic interlude, I needed light to read and work by. The television was particularly frustrating. Signal lost regularly and stations I would expect to be included, MSNBC, for example, not included. The bathroom also lacked adequate lighting, the shower head was on the ceiling, not my idea of a good design. Part of the room was hardwood floors, which were cold and slippery. Looking for a drop dead design, I think, but not the functional hotel room I prefer. If you want the glitz without the substance, then this might work for you. If you want function, do not stay here.

I would give all the stars in the sky!

This hotel is fantastic. Top to bottom, a fantastic place to stay. Front Desk/Concierge was exceptional, always friendly and willing to answer any questions. The room had every amenity you could imagine. The king bed was amazing! Restaurant, although a bit expensive, had great food and drinks. Vertigo also had a great atmosphere. Didn't use the Spa or gym, but I'm sure it's fantastic as well. Overall, LOVE this place. I'm planning my next trip now!

The Dana is Awesome

I love this hotel. It's walking distance to everything, close to trains and the staff is wonderful. Anything I needed was at my disposal. Bed is way comfy and my room had a balcony which was an added plus. I loved being able to get fresh air without having to leave my room. I would stay at the Dana again and again. Only drawback was no pool/spa.

Highly Recommended!!

Very new and modern hotel. Excellent location and very friendly staff. Amazing views and super clean. There is a bar/patio area on the 26th floor that hosts late night music and fun, so if noise bothers you at night you may want a lower level floor (they do recommend this). I was on the 25th floor and only heard it twice, but not enough to bother me. Only a few block walk to Michigan Ave & shopping, river front dining, universities, Whole Foods & Trader Joes, Movie Theater and Bowling...a really great location! As a single traveler I felt very safe both outside and inside the hotel. Although I did not eat at the hotel, the food looked amazing and they offered indoor, outdoor, and room-service options. The ambiance was wonderful and inviting. Rooms have floor to ceiling windows and they offer turn-down service in the evenings to pull the shades, bring you ice, and leave delicious chocolate dipped fortune cookies. Rooms and bathroom are spacious with easy access to work on a laptop, view the flat-screen TV, or dock your iPhone/iPod for listening. The beds and bedding are very comfortable and the showers have good water pressure. They have a spa onsite, although I did not use it. They also have a fitness room, which is open 24 hours. It has a couple modern tredmills and a nice precor, as well as free weights. Although not extensive, it was nice to have quality equipment and 24 hour access without having to pay an additional fee. I will definitely return, as well as recommend this hotel.

Entertainment tip: Short walk from hotel

Within walking distance to the beach (1/2 to 1 mile), 2 blks to public subway system, taxi and bus pick-up in front of hotel, 3-4 blks to Michigan Ave and shopping, a variety of restaurants, bars, and night clubs within walking distance, Starbucks on almost every corner, many 24-hour Walgreens, a movie theater, bowling and children's museum only a couple of blocks away. The taxi fee from Midway was $30. I took the subway to Wrigley Field (they offer tours daily) for $4.25 roundtrip.
