Coco Channel style and opulence comes to downtown Chicago
The appeal of the Waldorf Astoria Chicago Hotel centers on its drive to reinvent luxury and remove the monotony that one has come to expect from supposed luxury hotels. This Gold Coast hotel, on the doorstep of the exclusive shopping district, has certainly achieved its goal.
3 Reasons To Stay
  • Opulent five-star luxury with Coco Channel inspired interior
  • Fireplaces and furnished outside terraces in guest rooms

Weekend Retreat

Room (Suite) not available until 4pm for check-in. However, they gave me a 2pm check out. Very nice hotel- my room had a fireplace. The spa was world-class. Room service needs help. Had to call three times to get the meal.

Whirlwind Weekend

We arrived at the hotel early and the kind professional staff stored our bags while we toured Chicago until our room was ready. They called us promptly one hour later to let us know our room was waitng for us. Great vallet service as well - the car was warm when we got in. We got great dinner suggestions as well and they made reservations for us which were perfect. Cold champagne room service was right on time and delicious to start our evening in Chicago. Visited the spa prior to dinner for complimentary sauna, steam, jaquzzi and all amenties. Only suggestion for the spa - a nice scent in the women's steam room would be nice - it smelled musty. Also have experinced in other saunas a cinnnamin scent - adds a nice touch. Noticed also in the women's showers that the exhaust fan grill was caked with dust - recommend cleaning them more often. Next day we order a quick coffee room service - again was on time and the coffee was spectacular. We attended a Notre Dame game in Indiana, again water, warm car etc. was a nice suprise. Arrival late (11PM) from ND and were met with smiles and again no problems. All in all our suite was beautiful and clean, spacious and romantic. Would love to visit again in a heartbeat !

If having trouble getting reservations as we did at Gibbins, try their sister, Hugo's Frog Bar - was great for dinner !

Pure Luxury!

The limestone french mansion know as the Waldorf Chicago evokes continental elegance throughout. Our room with a gas fireplace called us to inroom dining. The bathrooms are so special they have television hidden in the mirrors until they are turned on. Coco Chanel would approve! I can't wait to take my children here this summer.

Top shelf hotel

The Elysian was breathtaking. Attentive service, spotless rooms, many amenities such as fireplace, multiple bathrooms and TVs in both rooms of our awesome corner suite with balcony. Right on top of all the fun and lively restaurants, shops and bars.

Exhale......

The Elysian is an oasis among the hustle bustle of this hip neighborhood. Attentive staff honored my request for a quiet room, and couldn't have been more accommodating. The room was spacious and elegant.

Lotta good, little bad, no ugly...

GOOD: The staff upon arrival is exceptional, from valets, to greeters, to front desk attendants. Very formal and attentive! The location is perfect (a couple of blocks from everything) and quiet. The room was stunning (this one was handicapped accessible), very large, very clean, good bed (though strange not to have sheets to slip into, just bottom + duvet w/cover), huge bathroom, fireplace, balcony. Beautiful lap pool, spa and fitness area! Complimentary BMW ride service within 2 miles of the hotel (did not use it but nice touch!). BAD: breakfast experience. In a nutshell, service was lacking (a little time to be seated, WAY excessive time to place an order or even see a server, though bussers kept re-setting tables next to us without ever inquiring...), my wife's over-easy eggs came over-extra-well and it took some time for anyone to check on us. We ran out of sugar, we an out of cream... That kind of stuff. Overall, HOTEL staff great! Hotel Beautiful! Our one experience at the restaurant... Not so much!
