Fun. Music was always playing. The lounge area was great and staff were plentiful and eager to help. Room design was not very functional however. Not much privacy in the bathroom. Shutters to the bathroom are opened and closed outside of the
bathroom. Outlets should be closer to the bed to charge phones. Minibar items throughout the room. My son drank a water before i got a chance to tell him not to.
it was ok - I don't like the 1/2 glass door on he shower and I really didn't like the location of the know to turn on the shower far behind the shower head - I would get wet as I tried to set the tempature of the shower - it should be moved away
from the shower head into a place easier to reach.
The lack of space between the bed and chair and work desk was way to little for someone to pass behind the person sitting there.
This Lake Shore Drive hotel is ideally located for shopping and culture and has nice views all around. Common areas pleasant (lobby a bit drafty). Rooms are good-size and comfortable, if a bit quirky (louvered shutters between the bathroom and
bedroom?). Staff was responsive when needed.
After a tough flight/schedule getting into Chicago, arriving at The W was just what I needed. The atmosphere and the people set things right and before too long I was relaxed and ready to take in the sites and sounds of the city. The W on
Lakeshore is located within walking distance of Rush St. and the Navy Pier, and the view from the 26th floor was awesome from both sides of the building - my room looked out over the city, and while waiting for the elevators you get an awesome view of the pier with its ferris wheel and other oddities. After I was settled, I walked to Hugo's Frog Bar on Rush and took in a fantastic meal while watching the MLB home run derby - Big Papi and Gonzalez were in contention until Cano broke it open. The steak was OUTSTANDING and the service was great. Definitely needed the walk back to the hotel after that. All in all, great experience at The W.
Hotel features (5 = best, 1 = worst):
Short walk from hotel
Just walk to Rush and you'll have plenty of dining and drinking choices.
Upgraded room upon check in. Lake View. Beautiful sunrise (remember to close the shades when you go to bed!). Turkey club at the bar was good. We used the free Acura car that evening - the pitch was annoying - we expected it - but it wasn't
all that instrusive. Business center is expensive but very reliable and accessible. All in all, a great experience.
