Pretty good

Spa services were great but a bit pricey. Sauna could be hotter. Staff was nice and always very helpful. The blinds almost fell on my head when they came off the wall, more troubling because there was a note somewhere about pulling on the blinds in fine print. It is insulting to have to pay extra for internet, especially so much for 15 minutes!

2 nights at the W

It was perfectly located near the pier and near my kids' apartment--all walking distance. Took the train to the bus and was a 3 minute walk from the hotel--$5 round trip instead of a $45++ taxi ride each way. Pool was a bit too cold. Fresh apples everywhere--a lovely perk. Also a coffee stand in the morning. Nice clean room with big-high-beds. Almost needed a footstool to get in, but super comfortable. Would return.

Good package deal, exciting lobby

Clean, well located hotel with modern decor that looks best in the evening when you do not see details of slightly worn furniture. DJ at night in the lobby, interesting lights. The best views of the lake and city must be from rooms with even numbers, as odd numbered rooms give the view of a wall politely called city view. This is what we had. The most peculiar thing about city view room accommodation is the window with shutters from room into the bathroom. I am not kidding, no glass, just wooden shutters that do close from either side, but do not lock. The sliding door to the bathroom does not lock either. Neither shutters, not sliding door provide sound insulation, so you can hear every sound from the bathroom. Pool is monopolized by kids at all times, so do not get excited about late pool hours. Overall, for a short leisure stay this is a suitable hotel, but business travelers may want to have free internet in the room (not provided).

A play package rate including parking and 2 drinks (at the bar) turned out to be a great value in the city, as parking is outrageously expensive in Chicago center.

The W Chicago - Navy Pier

Fairly quiet hotel until the wee hours of the weekend. Walls are definitely not soundproof & I was awakened by voices which sounded like they were in the room with me on both Friday & Saturday night. Staff was friendly & helpful, especially Lois. Hotel is a brief walk to Navy Pier or to stores on Michigan avenue.

The W

it was ok - I don't like the 1/2 glass door on he shower and I really didn't like the location of the know to turn on the shower far behind the shower head - I would get wet as I tried to set the tempature of the shower - it should be moved away from the shower head into a place easier to reach. The lack of space between the bed and chair and work desk was way to little for someone to pass behind the person sitting there.

Unbeatable location for the price

Loved the location of the hotel. Beautiful views on both sides. Walking distance to Navy Pier, downtown, close to water taxi pick-ups and eating establishment. The staff was very, very helpful, the hotel was beautiful. Not crazy about the restaurant so we just didn't eat there. We saw that there was a pool, just assumed there was a hot tub, which we would have loved to get into after a long day of walking. Very disappointed no hot tub. All in All we LOVED the Hotel and the Whole Trip. Thanks

W Play Package

The rooms and amenities are fantastic. The W Hotel finds a great balance between luxury and atmosphere; I think it's safe to say there's nothing like it in Chicago. Our only complaint is that we didn't receive the perks promoted in the W Play Package. I think the package would be a great deal-- the parking credit alone is worth $48-- but I would suggest that you make absolutely sure that the front desk staff understands what you prepaid for parking, two drinks, etc. Unfortunately, we had to pay for parking on the way out even after we confirmed that the parking was included in our package. This has taken a few days to sort out and we're still working towards resolution.
