3-days in Chicago

My weekend in Chicago is something I will always remember. I went to Chicago to see a Cubs baseball game at Wrigley Field. I looked for a hotel that was safe, clean, and located near things I wanted to see. The Thompson Chicago was in a safe location, located near many restaurants and tourist attractions.

Thompson Chicago

Amazing hotel! Super friendly staff. Great location right on Gold Coast area. About a 3 minute walk from the beach. I did not even know that Chicago had a beach. Let me tell you that the water is see-through bluish green. Shocked the heck out of me. We had a JR. Suite and it was clean, bright, and well-designed. Plenty of shopping, sightseeing, and dining in walking distance. All I can say is that I will be staying here for any and all of my Chi-town visits.

Best Hotel in Chicago

From the staff, to the rooms, to the location , this is by far your best bet if you want to be in downtown Chicago. The shopping is a few steps away as well as Chicago's top restaurants. Nice boutique hotel with a home feel. The staff will go out of their way to help you or answer your questions about the city. Lou from the car service is an amazing guy not only that he'll take you where you want to go, he'll guide you through the city as well. I will return to this hotel again and again. Thanks for the great stay

Thompson Hotel

We had a terrific time. The only downside to this hotel is the location. You have to take two trains and a bus to get there by public transportation and if you want to get to any of the "touristy" locations you have to take public transportation or cabs. Other than that the room was wonderful and you can live in the bathroom!

Weekend Getaway

The Thompson was a nice hotel and in a great area but unfortunately, we ran into some issues that made our stay less there less satisfying. When we checked in, we were told that we got upgraded because the room we requested on our travel website wasn't guaranteed. I personally don't seen that as an upgrade when you never requested or desired two twins beds as opposed to a King. We were then told by a woman at the front desk that we would be able to switch rooms in the morning, after the man who was helping us never offered us that option. He kept saying "we can switch you to a handicap accessible room in the morning." Again, not the type of room we requested. It was disappointing that someone who wasn't helping us at the front desk thought he was doing us a favor when really, there was more he could do but didn't offer that to us. We also requested a bed sheet at one point because we noticed there wasn't one on the bed but were told, "we don't put sheets on our beds." I think that is pretty unsanitary considering there is a good chance the comforters don't get washed very often. While the manager did attempt to offer us 50% off the first night, he ended up not being able to follow through with it because we had pre-paid with our hotel travel site. This hotel came with great recommendations but unfortunately, I am not able to rate it the same way.

Perfect Chicago weekend

Location could not be better for this hotel- within a major shopping area in town, excellent restaurants in the neighborhood and close to many Chicago interest points. The rooms are large with sleek decor, very comfortable beds and superb rain shower. The Nico Osteria restaurant is also worth trying out- prior reservation. Would stay again
