Poor
The hotel was in a good location. Just off the magnificent mile and near to the local train station. The hotel business centre was not usable due to (long term?) renovation, and no alternative fax email business service was provided. A request to download an important email was turned down. The day after we arrived we went out and returned at 6pm to find that our room had not been cleaned. The cleaner informed was contacted and offered to do it that evening sayinfg she had had too many rooms to do and had to do the vacated rooms first. Next mornings tea came with out milk and only half the required tea bags. There was nothing in the mini bar, and the phone on the desk did not work so that we had to use the one in the bathroom. Th e facilities and the service was far below our expectations.

Marvelous location
I came to chicago for vacation, I chose the Whitehall for its location and affordable price. this is my second time there and if I go again I will not hesitate to stay at it. One thing that I needed and was not available is a universal adapter to charge my cell phone since I traveled overseees.

Great Location, Hotel was average
The hotel itself was under construction, which wasn't mentioned at all ahead of time. The room was a nice size for a couple, with nothing too fancy. However, the bed and pillows are really comfortable. The best thing about it is that that its just one block away from Michigan St, close to most of the tourist attractions.

Location Location Location
This hotel was a great value for the location. Right next to Michigan Ave and the Hancock Building and priced considerably lower than nearby hotels. Amenities were good, staff was great, and again, location that can't be beat!

Fantastic family getaway
I didn't have time to enjoy all the amenities of the hotel but I am sure they must be excellent. Location is superb right in the middle of an action. Clubs, bars, restaurants and close to the waterfront.

Short walk from hotel
Every evening we were going to different restaurants such as Cafe des Architectes at Sofitel Chicago Water Tower Hotel,McCormick and Schmick's and Japanese restaurant 'Kamehachi on Ontario 240N. We loved all of them and I am sure there are plenty more to go to, including one in Whitehall itself.

Whitehall Outstanding location & rate
The staff was exceptionally welcoming and provided outstanding service. The location one block from the Hancock Center, in the heart of the Magnificant Michigan shopping district and one block from the heart to Rush Street night life. The rate was extremely reasonable. The deep discounted rate was likely because the hotel is being renovated. The renovation noise was minimum. However, I was dependent on using the business center which was not open due to renovation. Services that I can usually do independently were channeled to room service. Room service was required to obtain a hair dryer, yet an iron and ironing board were conveniently available. Room service was required to get ice. Most disappointedly is that the business center was not open. I was on a business trip and needed extensive use of a printer. Once again for printed items you needed to get service from hotel staff. I could not get internet access and was told to visit a local coffee shop. This was very disruptive to my business trip on a very tight schedule. If I were to return for a pleasurable weekend trip, I would indeed consider Whitehall at this very attractive rate and location.

Very classy
We loved the location of the hotel. It was very close to many of the restaurants, shops, and transportation (bus stops and train). It was very "chicago classy", in that it didn't look like every other hotel that was on the block. We chose this hotel because we wanted the experience of staying in a historical hotel as opposed to a chain. It had its own charm. The Whitehall staff was very helpful, and the rooms were spotless. We would definitely choose to stay there again!

Get a pass and take the trains anywhere and everywhere in the city! They are safe and much faster than riding the bus! It was very easy to get around Chicago once we mastered the train!

Perfect Location
I stayed at the Whitehall with my 15 year old daughter. We found the location to be perfect for shopping. The staff was friendly, the room nice, however the window was horribly dirty. It made opening the drapes a big disappointment.
