Nice Hotel

Nice hotel and got a decent price thru Orbitz but stayed 12 days and did not like no ice, no vending machines. Had to go to the grocery store 2 blocks away for sodas/snacks. Excercise room doesn't open until 7am. Business travelers need to begone by then! Coffee is not served in the lobby until 7am. These annoying inconveniences would make me look elsewhere in the future.

Decent Place

Hotel does not serve coffee in the lobby until 7am. No coffee maker in rooms. No ice machines/vending machines in the hotel. Can't use exercise room until 7am. All inconveniences and no reason hotel could not change these simple things. Need to get up with the times! Desk chair very uncomfortable but the rest of the room was nice. Migh stay again if the price was right.

Nice for the Price

Convention at McCormick, average $15 cab ride one-way including tip, can't exercise until 7am and closes at 10pm. No morning coffee served until 7am. Most people need to be gone by 7am. No ice machines, no vending machines. Paid $3 plus tip for a 6oz club soda in the bar. Limited menu, no burgers! Okay hotel, comfortable rooms, nice beds/pillows but will most likely find another hotel next trip due to above inconveniences.

Great Location, Hotel was average

The hotel itself was under construction, which wasn't mentioned at all ahead of time. The room was a nice size for a couple, with nothing too fancy. However, the bed and pillows are really comfortable. The best thing about it is that that its just one block away from Michigan St, close to most of the tourist attractions.

Nice hotel, but....

The Whitehall is a very nice little hotel with very comfortable beds. I just want to see on their website and a warning on Orbitz about the valet parking only at the hotel which costs $45 a night. That fee really takes you by a landstorm if you are not familiar with parking in downtown Chicago and you are not aware of the high fees. The hotel does not have a drive up lane either so you have to be able to get to the curb on the street in front of the hotel and hope the valet guy is around. He was not and I had to circle the block several times and then call the hotel to have him come out. Their website does not cover anything about the parking situation nor did Orbitz address that as a concern. Usually, we buy packages because we are looking for good cost savings and $45 a night is ridiculous. Otherwise, the manager on duty was polite and the room was very nice. Most comfortable bed I think I have ever slept in at a hotel anywhere.

Do not recommend this hotel

Room was very musty, water was luke warm. Listed as 4 star hotel, but standards are pretty old. If you can, stay at the Raffaello. It is certainly a much better update than this. The bed was strange too. We never felt like staying in our room unless if we really had to. The service people were okay, but the Raffaello staff is much much friendler.

Great Location

The hotel is in a great location, but the staff (with the exception of the doormen who were very helpful) gave you the impression they were doing you a favor. Literally had to ask for everything - room to be cleaned, coffee, timely check-in.

Chicago trip - whitehall hotel

The Whitehall Hotel in Chicago has a really good location. It is right off of Michigan Ave (great shopping) and Rush St (great bars and restaurants) The Sears Tower is only about 1.5 miles away - not a bad walk at all. The hotel staff were pretty friendly and accommodating. The concierge gave us VIP tickets to a really great jazz club on Rush St. It was a pretty clean hotel...small rooms and bathroom but pretty clean. The fitness center was pretty good too...nice machines and free weights. I think the best part of this hotel was the location. It is close to most everything.

Good value for a great Chicago location.

We took a few days to enjoy the city. The location was perfect to enjoy the parks, beaches, museums and shopping on the Magnificent Mile. The room was clean but quite small.

Rather than taking cabs, get a CTA day or three day pass. Buses run most efficiently.
