Perfect Location!

This hotel is in the perfect location and the staff was extremely helpful with any concerns and very prompt. They were in the midst of a major remodel so I can now understand why they were priced at a savings. At least one half of the lobby was in mid construction. The room was okay but the bed was very comfortable. The movies they offered were not great. The one we wanted to watch was not working so they did credit us.

Works really well

I found my stay to be relaxing, a great location with good food nearby. I would have liked a better TV, this one was old with bad color.

Great location, but, needs that special something

The hotel is located in a nice area, about 6 blocks from the CTA metro. A few blocks from John Hancock Observatory, Chicago Water Tower, Visitor Center, Museum of Contemporary Art. The Whitehall Hotel is undergoing renovation that will last about 6 more weeks. Friendly staff. Elevator is old, small, but doable. Room accommodation, does not look like picture as not bright enough, needs more lighting. Our king bedroom was a bit small, but, comfortable. Rugs/paint a bit old. Bathroom is small, but, okay, only problem is there is not much room to put personal bath necessities. Overall, our king bedroom was good, but, for those who want more walking space for a king size bedroom, don't expect too much.

A Pretty Good Stay

A quality hotel. Nice, big room, though the TV was a pretty old model and made an occasional humming sound. Also, the lobby is being remodeled so there was some construction noise around 8am each morning. Overall though, friendly staff and a nice place, in a great part of Chicago.

We will return!

Two friends and I just spent four delightful days in Chicago and part of the delight was staying at the Whitehall Hotel. The one block walk to North Michigan Ave. and the Water Tower Place was so convenient. Two blocks the other direction put us on State St. The staff is friendly and very helpful. When I called to report that the hair dryer quit mid-hair drying, a new one was delivered to my room as soon as I hung up! Our rooms had newly remodeled bathrooms and the beds were very comfortable with down mattress covers as well as comforters. Two amenities that we wish would have been provided would be coffee pots in the rooms and ice machines in the halls; however, the staff quickly delivered ice to our rooms and the complimentary coffee in the lobby was excellent. We will return!

Paizano Pizza is a short walk from the Whitehall west and then south on State St. This is Oprah's favorite pizza restaurant, and we agree that it is wonderful!

Good staff, great location

Staff is great and location is fantastic. Great value. Hotel is dated, but very clean and fuctional. We needed to upgrade from a single queen to two queen room as a relative showed up for the last night there. They moved us no problem and for no charge. Will go back.

not very good

When we walked in we were expecting fancy, to my surprise we were very dissapointed. The hotel needs a renovation especially since the lobby is the first thing you see and we did not have a good first impression. The check in area was run down with cracks on the wall and pieces of crown molding missing. The room was better however still not up to standards. The tv was small and the bed was not that comfortable, there was also a $49 charge for parking which is not so bad but I would have liked to be warned. One of the good things was the view other than that everything else was mediocre. Definitely not worth the money.
