One of many Westin hotels across the US, the Westin Michigan Avenue Chicago greets you with a dramatic sweeping staircase, soaring marble columns and glittering, modern light fixtures. But it's not just a pretty picture; handy features like flexible workspaces ('Tangent') and free Wi-Fi in the lobby are on offer for businesspeople staying in Chicago. After you've feasted on all the pan-fried fish and fillet steaks you can manage, sip an after-dinner coffee at The Grill on the Alley, overlooking the melee of the Magnificent Mile below. Catch up on your favorite shows while you're on the Stairmaster at the WestinWORKOUT 24-hour gym, or make your exercise more social, with regular evening classes like yoga or a running club.

Paper Thin Walls, Noisy Hallways, Rooms Smell Musty

The rooms are ordinary rooms, nothing special that you might assume being located next door to Hancock Building on Michigan Avenue. I had to be moved to another room at midnight as the next door guests' conversations could easily be heard. The walls are very thin, the doors are not sealed at the floor making all activity in the halls heard in room. I would not stay again.

Room cleaning

The rooms were clean except there was a bag of something left in one of the night stands. My husband said it looked like garbage, possibly left from previous guest. Also it would had been great to have a phone book in the room. Loved the location.

Not so heavenly beds..

Not that the bed was dirty but BOY was it hard as a rock! I booked at this hotel because I raved about the beds to my boyfriend and now he thinks I'm crazy. Other than that, a good place for the money.

Great Hotel

Every staff member I encountered was very professional and helpful. Perfect location for shopping and some "non-tourist-type" eateries.

Birthday Getaway

We were able to check in a little early and by doing so we were able to visit all the great sites of Chicago. We went to the Hancock which is directly across the street. We had to go to American Girl Doll Store and buy the newest doll. Had Dinner at Dikta's. Then took a short Cab trip to Navy Pier. Everything was Great!!!!! I am looking foward to going back in the Spring. The best thing about the trip is when My Daughter left her American Girl Doll book at the Hotel. The Hotel had it retrieved and was at the front desk for us to pick up the next day.

Good value for the location

Ideally located close to shopping. Friendly and informative staff. Easy check-in and check-out process. Minor quib: Parking could be cheaper.
