A deep green awning marks the entrance to this downtown hotel, which reflects the charm and European elegance of its Gold Coast environs. Guests can walk to Magnificent Mile shops, restaurants, bars, elite Oak Street boutiques and Rush Street nightlife from the doors of the Treemont Hotel. Like the vintage buildings that surround it, the Treemont was designed with strong bones, boasting hardwood floors, wood-paneled ceilings and lovely touches like archways, crown molding and a baby grand piano in the lobby.

Rooms

The Tremont Chicago remains true to its old-world character. Carpeted parloresque rooms boast ladylike flair with floral patterned drapes, tufted headboards, Queen-Anne style nightstands and dainty brass lamps. Some rooms have kitchenettes and sitting areas. Guests can pay additional fees for their own microwave and refrigerator, but Wi-Fi is free in all rooms.

For longer stays, reserve the Tremont studios next door, a collection of 12 fully-furnished studios with kitchens.

Property features

Chicago's appetite for steak is legendary. Here, find one of the best chophouses in the city at Mike Ditka's, which pays tribute to the famed Chicago Bears coach with a prized collection of sports memorabilia, including football helmets of his former teams. The two-level restaurant fires a solid selection of cuts, like the Filet Medallions Three Ways or the Kick-Ass Paddle Steak, but extends the spread to chicken, seafood and burgers as well. At the end of the meal, retire to the handsome second-floor cigar lounge for live entertainment and single-malt Scotch.

Tremont

You can't beat the location. Because it's attached to Ditka's you always have a dinner/lunch spot to go if you're just too tired to fight the crowds. The staff is very helpful. One of the two days we didn't receive maid service. The other strange thing is that this hotel does not offer two queen beds-only a king or queen which doesn't make it the best spot if you have children. I've stayed here twice and was told that anyway. The location is it's selling point.

Beautiful historic building - easy to find.

We had the worst experience ever with the people in the room next to us. The profanity and noise level was out of this world and was starting at 4:00 in the afternoon. Obviously drinking going on as well as one paricular person with a regular loud voice. When we approached the desk clerk about it, nothing was done the first time. Not even a phone call to say someone had complained. I know that for sure because we could have heard the phone ring!! Luckily, we left around 5:30 for the evening and they were out of it by the time we came back. When we left the next morning, things were starting all over again. Not very soundproof walls in addition to the fact that the rooms must have at one time been a suite because of a single door between.

Chicago weekend

We stayed at the Tremont for college related matters. The location was just perfect. Within walking distance from the school and other events. Lots of nice places to eat within a budget. The hotel is accessible; checking in was quite easy. The accommodations were good. Beds are excellent quality. The building itself needs some serious maintenance. The elevator is slow . The rooms have seen better days; some mildew stains noted and the wallpaper in the bathroom is coming off the walls. Several tiles are broken and with mildew stains. The bathtub did not drain well and the bathtub faucet was leaking. Lighting was poor. Ceiling lights were busted. However the value and location were just right and served the purpose. I'm not sure if I would return though; note is made we found a bargain on the internet for this room. You almost wonder if they have third class rooms for such bargains

Wonderful Holiday weekend

I had a wonderful experience at this Hotel. The hotel was in walking distance of anything that a tourist would want to see in Downtown Chicago. The hotel was low key, not a lot of traffic and very quiet. The only thing missing was an in room coffee pot and/or microwave. The bed was very comfortable and housekeeping was great.

Made the move to Chicago easier!

I booked this hotel for two nights in advance of moving my daughter to Chicago. I didn't realize it was a limited services location. i.e. no on-site room service, gym, etc., but for the money, it was a perfect choice.

basic hotel with good location.

Things that were negative: TV wasn't working, had to be reset; Bathtub plugged up and would not drain; Elevator not working and people were stuck on it; Shower head fell off; Room was very warm and tempature had to change; Stairwells are deteriated and smelled and the only way to get to room quite often.

helpful staff

great location; quiet; breakfast in Ditka's was listed as $5, but was actually $10...it was nice, but not that nice; free coffee, however...wish there was a coffeemaker in the room; stingy with soap.

Family weekend

Hotel was OK. Location was great. But it was a very chilly April weekend in Chicago and heat was not working, nor did they attempt to compensate in any way. The room was freezing and only way to sleep was with two extra blankets on us. Impossible to stay in the room otherwise. staff kept giving stupid excuses for the lack of heat, but at the end, they never did anything to make the stay more comfortable. Will go somewhere else next time. Not even coffee in the room.

Location, affordabilty, quality , clean, quaint, courteous

I have stayed at the Tremont before. This is why I decided to return. It is the best value in the city of Chicago. The location is perfect ..situated on the Magnificent Mile.steps away from restaurants, malls and Chicago nightlife. The rooms are clean and the staff is friendly. The best thing...affordable. I have recommended it to my family and friends.

So So

The hotel is well located, but lacks any amenities. The room that I had seemed to be recently redecorated and was clean, but the rest of the hotel looked like it needed a scrubbing and painting. I can't complain because I had a great room rate and didn't spend much time in the hotel. If you want to be a block away from great shopping on the magnificent mile and close to some nice restaurants, it is tolerable for no more than three days.
