Quaint vintage hotel just off the Magnificent Mile
A deep green awning marks the entrance to this downtown hotel, which reflects the charm and European elegance of its Gold Coast environs. Guests can walk to Magnificent Mile shops, restaurants, bars, elite Oak Street boutiques and Rush Street nightlife from the doors of the Treemont Hotel. Like the vintage buildings that surround it, the Treemont was designed with strong bones, boasting hardwood floors, wood-paneled ceilings and lovely touches like archways, crown molding and a baby grand piano in the lobby.
Highlights
- Walk to the Magnificent Mile, Rush Street and Oak Street
- Penthouse suites with 11-foot ceilings, fireplace, Jacuzzi tub and wet bar
- Mike Ditka's steakhouse complete with cigar lounge and sports memorabilia
- The Tremont studios offer furnished apartment-style accommodations next door for extended stays
- Free Wi-Fi in all rooms
Rooms
The Tremont Chicago remains true to its old-world character. Carpeted parloresque rooms boast ladylike flair with floral patterned drapes, tufted headboards, Queen-Anne style nightstands and dainty brass lamps. Some rooms have kitchenettes and sitting areas. Guests can pay additional fees for their own microwave and refrigerator, but Wi-Fi is free in all rooms.
For longer stays, reserve the Tremont studios next door, a collection of 12 fully-furnished studios with kitchens.
Features
Chicago's appetite for steak is legendary. Here, find one of the best chophouses in the city at Mike Ditka's, which pays tribute to the famed Chicago Bears coach with a prized collection of sports memorabilia, including football helmets of his former teams. The two-level restaurant fires a solid selection of cuts, like the Filet Medallions Three Ways or the Kick-Ass Paddle Steak, but extends the spread to chicken, seafood and burgers as well. At the end of the meal, retire to the handsome second-floor cigar lounge for live entertainment and single-malt Scotch.

Great location
Although the hotel was dated, the bathrooms were modern but small. Location was the best. Hotel staff was friendly and extremely accomodating. No business service or in room refrigerator. Starbucks across the street a plus and they have a great bar!

Location, Location, Location
The Tremont Hotel is a nice hotel in the heart of Chicago. It is one block off Michigan Ave and the Magnificent Mile. The rooms are cute and nicely decorated. The elevator in the annex is very small. The bathtub is very small but the water pressure is incredible. We visited in the middle of summer and the air conditioner could have worked better. Still, for the money it was an enjoyable stay and would highly recommend it.

Smokin Cozy
Very Family Friendly
The Tremont offers stellar service in a cozy European boutique hotel located on 1 block off of North Michigan Avenue. The staff is great, the rooms are most comfortable, and Ditka's great restaurant is just off the lobby. Ditka's offers great breakfasts at reasonable prices too. Starbucks is just across the street from The Tremont, so we could get a quick tea to go and the morning newspaper. I love The Tremont because the staff is most attentive, kind, and smile frequently. Their recommendations for restaurants and sight-seeing are timely and helpful. I don't need a swimming pool or fitness room when I go to Chicago for the weekend; The Tremont is close to everything I love about North Michigan and its immediate area in Chicago. The personalized service of The Tremont is superb. On our first stay at The Tremont, I asked about borrowing a needle and thread to fasten a button on my winter coat. The manager herself took my coat and sewed the button on for me! That act of kindness alone made me want to return to The Tremont, which I did several months later. The same amazing service and attitudes were still present. I would highly recommend The Tremont to a visitor to Chicago.

Water Tower Place is a stone's throw from The Tremont, as are other amazing shopping experiences. The dining choices range from Bistro 110 to the West Egg Eatery and Go Roma. Ditka's is located through the lobby of The Tremont. One needn't over think either shopping or dining experiences from The Tremont because of the close proximity.

Convenient vacation location
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was adequate, clean. For seeing the heart of Chicago there is hardly a better place to stay. The Tempo Cafe, just a block away, serves great breakfast and lunches. It is not a good spot for dinner. The Lakeshore was just 3 blocks from the hotel.

My review of Tremont Hotel
This hotel was a good value for the money. The hotel has a great location close to the red line and across the streeet from the Hancock Tower. The room is a basic room, clean and neat but a bit old. There are no amenities in the hotel, no pool, fitness center, or restaurant. Lots of options for food nearby I would stay here again if I return to Chicago.

Cozy and friendly!!!!!!!!!
I absolutely was delighted with the courteous service from the staff. Going to the beach, hanging out at the bookstore, shopping at many area stores and visiting a relaxing park were all within a close distance (even walking in flip-flops). I will always choose this hotel over the bigger ones in town........... The valet service even got my book out of my car so I could read it while at the beach, I couldn't ask for more!!!!!!

Comfortable and Sophisticated
The Tremont was wonderful. The staff was friendly and helpful and the room was very comfortable. The location is great, especially for downtown shopping! Very close to all the good stuff! The hotel was quiet, even though I know there were lots of people there, even families with kids. The walls were thick enough to keep the noise out! I loved the combination of sophistication and warmth at this hotel and I highly recommend it!

Great Location
Upon arriving I noticed I did not have my license, the front desk was helpful and told me that it was not a problem and offered advice on a way of replacing it. I arrived slightly early and they allowed me to check me in an hour early, which actually gave me a smaller bed and a different room. I am not sure how different it would have been if I had the king size bed, but I was glad to be able to check in. The room was left clean each time upon my return. The room also had a desk, a bureau, a chair with foot rest, full bathroom, closet, iron and hairdryer. They didn't bother me in the morning, too early. This allowed me to get ready without interruption. Upon checking out I had some time before leaving for the airport and they kept my bag until my car service showed up. It is a great service, which allowed me to see a few more sites my last day without carrying all my belongings. Overall, the hotel is in a great location. It is near Michigan Mile, near the EL, and convenient to numerous downtown eateries within walking distance. Also, in the lobby you can access Mike Ditkas restaurant. I was happy with the selection. It offers a traveler convenience at on a budget. It is not an impressive place or prestigous locaion, but it allows you save some money on your room so to spend it on other things.
