Quaint vintage hotel just off the Magnificent Mile
A deep green awning marks the entrance to this downtown hotel, which reflects the charm and European elegance of its Gold Coast environs. Guests can walk to Magnificent Mile shops, restaurants, bars, elite Oak Street boutiques and Rush Street nightlife from the doors of the Treemont Hotel. Like the vintage buildings that surround it, the Treemont was designed with strong bones, boasting hardwood floors, wood-paneled ceilings and lovely touches like archways, crown molding and a baby grand piano in the lobby.
Highlights
- Walk to the Magnificent Mile, Rush Street and Oak Street
- Penthouse suites with 11-foot ceilings, fireplace, Jacuzzi tub and wet bar
- Mike Ditka's steakhouse complete with cigar lounge and sports memorabilia
- The Tremont studios offer furnished apartment-style accommodations next door for extended stays
- Free Wi-Fi in all rooms
Rooms
The Tremont Chicago remains true to its old-world character. Carpeted parloresque rooms boast ladylike flair with floral patterned drapes, tufted headboards, Queen-Anne style nightstands and dainty brass lamps. Some rooms have kitchenettes and sitting areas. Guests can pay additional fees for their own microwave and refrigerator, but Wi-Fi is free in all rooms.
For longer stays, reserve the Tremont studios next door, a collection of 12 fully-furnished studios with kitchens.
Features
Chicago's appetite for steak is legendary. Here, find one of the best chophouses in the city at Mike Ditka's, which pays tribute to the famed Chicago Bears coach with a prized collection of sports memorabilia, including football helmets of his former teams. The two-level restaurant fires a solid selection of cuts, like the Filet Medallions Three Ways or the Kick-Ass Paddle Steak, but extends the spread to chicken, seafood and burgers as well. At the end of the meal, retire to the handsome second-floor cigar lounge for live entertainment and single-malt Scotch.

"Girls" Big Birthday Weekend Getaway
Dismal first impression upon entering, old, tired-looking rather than charming boutique as expected. Staff was pleasant and efficient. One slow elevator delivered me to a tiny room with minimal amenities (plastic wrapped plastic glasses, no extra goodies, no robe). Room was clean. If the price had been cheap I wouldn't have minded the old bare bones quality of the place, but it wasn't. Next time I'll take the 2 star rating more seriously. There are plenty of other well located hotels which are cost efficient without sacrificing ambiance.

Short walk from hotel
Don't miss walking along the lake front! Lovely escape from the city right in the city, miles of beach front to walk, bike or run along.

good location
good: perfect location. right in front of water tower. staffs are ok. they were not being rude or anything. room is clean and house keeping time is a little random but that's nothing to get annoyed. bad: room is not too small, but arrangement of it makes little room for a large travel baggage. it was manageable but still. shower tab was ridiculously tight. I had to call the front desk to finally work it. overall, it was a good place to stay.

Nice relaxing getaway
The hotel was in a nice location for walking and sightseeing. It's setting is between a neighborhood and the busy downtown which I felt was a great asset.

Personal
Ok needs renovations the floors smell stale. Staff not knowledgable and slow. Never is anyone at the desk in the evening. But good location if you know your way around then the staff doesn't matter.

There are better restaurants in old neighbor hoods you need to use the subway and get around rush street is too touristy and boring.

Great value
This is a very basic hotel that is in need of an upgrade. I paid an extra $10 per night for a more spacious room. It was worth it. I got a room with plenty of space and lots of character. It was very quiet. It had a firm king sized bed, flat screen television, and lots of windows.

Nice Cozy Place, Nothing Special
Room was clean & cozy, but reminded me of the jail cells you see on reality TV. Sometimes I like to just spend some time in my room and relax or do some work. This one was just too small for me. I guess if you just need a place to sleep the night and get a decent meal in the same building, (downstairs at Ditkas'), then you will enjoy it. I was just spoiled with the large spacious rooms at modern hotels/motels and feel more comfortable in them. But the Only real complaint I have is parking...There is none reasonable...be ready to pay as much for parking as you do for the room. Chicago politics at its' finest.... If you are visiting from out of town, grab a room off Higgins Road or River Road in Park Ridge or Rosemont, and catch the CTA Train DownTown to explore the inner city. The money you save on parking can be spent on better things.

Great stay
The room was a good size. Everything seemed clean! [...] at the front desk was personable (even at 11:30 at night). My favorite feature: their shower heads tell you what temperature the water is. The future is now!

Shopping tip:
Short walk from hotel
I could see the Hancock Building from my window, which means you are right near Water Tower Place and a ton of other shopping destinations.
