Perfect Birthday Get-A-Way
Birthday Girl Dec 5, 2009
We wanted a romantic get-a-way to celebrate my 50th birthdday, and the Talbott was just the place! The staff members were ... superb! They were friendly, helpful, and made us feel welcome throughout our stay. As a surprise, my family upgraded us to an Executive room, which had all the amenities we needed.Although we don't mind children, this was one vacation where we appreciated not having seen any at the hotel. This made it all the more perfect for making that special "couples" feeling. The Talbott is at the northern end of the Magnificent Mile, but we really liked the location because it was still within walking distance of just about everything, yet it was relatively quiet. What we liked best is that we never heard doors slamming and people talking loudly in the hallways like you get at so many other hotels. It seemed that all the guests were respectful of each other. The concierge service was great! [...] helped my family with the long-distance special birthday arrangements, and [...]made sure we got into the two restaurants that were "don't miss" on our list.Without a doubt, if we're lucky enough to visit Chicago again, we'll stay at the Talbott!

The staff were very accommodating and the rooms were clean and comfortable. My only complaint was the fitness center was ... off-site, which was not clear in the website link. The walk was short (block and a half) but that can be long in Chicago weather, although the fitness center was a commercial facility with extensive work out opportunities.

Great Hotel, Kind Staff, Loud Morning
Aaron Oct 14, 2009
The Talbott hotel is a very nice hotel. The rooms are spotless. The staff is very friendly, attentive and eager to help in ... whatever way possible. The location of the hotel is perfect - a rocks throw from the magnificent mile and Rush St. Easy access to public transportation made my stay simple. I recommend the little cafe across the street for quick sandwiches and salads. The pricing for the hotel was cheap, which I assume will increase when adjacent construction is completed. The construction began at 8am on the dot - which wasn't a problem as I was up before this each day....but if I intended to sleep in it would have been disturbing. All-in-all great hotel, cheap price, great location!

Great Location & Well Appointed Rooms
San Francisco Nel Sep 27, 2009
My husband and I came to Chicago for an anniversary getaway, and the Talbott was a great base to start from. It was our first ... ever trip to Chicago, and the Talbott was in walking distance to the Magnificent Mile, Hancock Tower and the Loop. The only downside is that the location has more of a downtown feel and less of a neighborhood feel, but it's a pretty close El ride to most other neighborhoods. The staff were friendly and courteous and the rooms were spacious and aparkling.

Do the math with the parking. Even with that lousy crook mayor daley making you feed the meters on a Sunday, I still came out ahead with the time I spent there. Whatever you're looking for. Yes, you have to feed them ever two (2) hours till nine (9) pm.
--Pete, Chicago Aug 17, 2009
If you have never been to Chicago and you want to sit outside and have some drinks, be aware that there is a city ordinance requiring the bars to close their patios @ 1100. It was disappointing. And I would not recommend going to Dublin's which is down on Rush. The service was pretty bad on the patio and once we went inside they wouldn't allow people to sit if they were only having drinks because they "needed them for people who were eating".
