The staff were very accommodating and the rooms were clean and comfortable. My only complaint was the fitness center was ... off-site, which was not clear in the website link. The walk was short (block and a half) but that can be long in Chicago weather, although the fitness center was a commercial facility with extensive work out opportunities.

The consierge was most helpful. It was a little farther from Michigan avenue and shopping than we are accustomed to but it was worth the extra walk to stay at the Talbott.

The Talbott hotel is a very nice hotel. The rooms are spotless. The staff is very friendly, attentive and eager to help in ... whatever way possible. The location of the hotel is perfect - a rocks throw from the magnificent mile and Rush St. Easy access to public transportation made my stay simple. I recommend the little cafe across the street for quick sandwiches and salads. The pricing for the hotel was cheap, which I assume will increase when adjacent construction is completed. The construction began at 8am on the dot - which wasn't a problem as I was up before this each day....but if I intended to sleep in it would have been disturbing. All-in-all great hotel, cheap price, great location!

My husband and I came to Chicago for an anniversary getaway, and the Talbott was a great base to start from. It was our first ... ever trip to Chicago, and the Talbott was in walking distance to the Magnificent Mile, Hancock Tower and the Loop. The only downside is that the location has more of a downtown feel and less of a neighborhood feel, but it's a pretty close El ride to most other neighborhoods. The staff were friendly and courteous and the rooms were spacious and aparkling.

Loved the quaint hotel,except for few minor things. Our corner room did not seem like a corner, a new highrise was being ... built next to Talbott so we had no view and lots of construction noise. If you want any view, be sure it is not near escape stairs or looking onto a new building. Everything else was wonderful, a very large room with large bath that has heat light and huge perfect towels. The TV was top and the room had loveseat and cozy chairs. Also, we loved the gracious entry and had a glass of wine there one night about 10 ish while enjoying the warm ambience. Close to everything!! Conceirge people were helpful!! Having to order ice was annoying but they were nice about it. Breakfast room service was among the best, and all service was great. Fitness center was 2 blocks and for dedicated fitness people, no jacuzzi, process was a bit of a pain. We didn't care, we came for the music and dining and were not disappointed, we felt we were in the heart of it. Our hotel felt like we belonged there and any age seemed very welcomed!

Do the math with the parking. Even with that lousy crook mayor daley making you feed the meters on a Sunday, I still came out ahead with the time I spent there. Whatever you're looking for. Yes, you have to feed them ever two (2) hours till nine (9) pm.

If you have never been to Chicago and you want to sit outside and have some drinks, be aware that there is a city ordinance requiring the bars to close their patios @ 1100. It was disappointing. And I would not recommend going to Dublin's which is down on Rush. The service was pretty bad on the patio and once we went inside they wouldn't allow people to sit if they were only having drinks because they "needed them for people who were eating".
