One of all time favorites.
We had a perfect stay at the Talbott Hotel last week with our two teenage sons. The concierge helped us with several reservations for Easter Brunch, dinners, and tours even before we arrived at the hotel. The staff was genuinely friendly. The rooms are large and beautifully decorated. Beds are comfortable and it is very quiet.. The hotel is walking distance to shopping, theatre and terrific restaurants. We have traveled extensively including very upscale accommodations and we will certainly be returning to the Talbott!.

Short walk from hotel
Don't miss the Untouchables gangster tour. It is a bus tour that originates at what is ranked the best MacDonalds in the U.S.( good place to have a Macmuffin before the tour) The two fellows who run the tour provide a hilarious 2 hour tour which is easy to hear and follow.

My review of The Talbott Hotel
We were visiting our daughter and her family in Iowa where we celebrated our 45th wedding anninversary. On our way back to Michigan we decided, on a whim, to stop in our favorite city, Chicago, and continue our celebration. We have stayed here numerous times over the past 32 years of Chicago visits. We enjoy the elegance and low keyed environment of boutique hotels at which the Talbott excels. The employees have always bent over backwards to accommodate our every request and need while remaining circumspect and in the background. The rooms are very clean & tastefully updated with excellent bath facilities - everything you would expect of an upscale hotel. Beds are fabulous, lots of pillows and quality bedding. The Concierge was up to her usual top performance and secured last minute (made after 5:30 p.m) dinner reservations for us. It was an unusally warm fall evening in early November (over 70 degrees) and we wanted a ethnic restaurant within walking distance. To our delight she suggested a French bistro on Rush Street a short walk from the hotel. Our meal was excellent and different (always a plus in our book) and reasonably priced. The old world ambience of the Talbott appeals to us and we always feel special when we stop in the cozy lobby for morning coffee by the fireplace, to sample their light buffet and spend a moment catching up on world events in Wall Street Journal and US News supplied by the hotel. We love the Gold Coast location of the Talbott, a short walk to the Magnificant Mile. Their in-out valet parking is great for us. I was also pleased that our favorite doorman, was still on the job. He is a true gentleman and brings a professionalism to his position. And as we departed we misplaced a hanging bag with an expensive leather coat and a suit. The following morning we called from home and within a few minutes they called us back that they had located it. They overnighted it to us at their cost. All around -- a class act.

Short walk from hotel
The hotel has no gift shop but there is a Deli on the corner of Rush and Delaware and a full grocery store on Wabash just south of Delaware, both a very short walk from the hotel. Lots of restaurants of all types within walking distance.

Beautiful little European hotel
My wife and I have stayed at 15-20 hotels in Chicago including the large, grand ones. We keep going back to the Talbott. It is a wonderfully clean, friendly, inviting hotel. We were just there in late November and it was beautifully decorated for the holiday season. The rooms are a very nice size. We especially like the central location to the Rush Street hot spots and Michigan Avenue. We have stayed there about five times and always check there first when planning a trip to Chicago.

Great hotel in great location
The Talbott is one of my favorite downtown Chicago hotels. The location two blocks off Michigan Ave near the John Hancock building is perfect for great shopping and dining. I reserved four rooms in my name each with separate check-ins days. The front desk staff was very helpful keeping all our rooms on the same floor even though we checked in over a three day period. The room was very attractive, comfortable, and always clean. I especially liked that towels were changed in the morning and again with the evening turn-down. The hotel has a small restaurant with several sidewalk tables. The food and the service here was also excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and will stay here again.

1. Tempo, a great breakfast spot and 24 hour restaurant is one street south on Chesnut. 2. Tavern on Rush is a few blocks north on Rush and has a great brunch or night meal. 3. Bandera's on Michigan Avenue is several blocks to the south. Has a great menu, reasonably priced, great service and a jazz trio nightly
